I have just accepted an offer for a half hour fitting by Titleist at my local range. I wanted to see if my D2 driver with a regular shaft would be better for me with a slightly stiffer shaft. Has anyone done a range fitting? and what testing gear do they use?

Cheers for help

Depends on the range, but some will have Trackman. You will also have the pro who will be watching the flight and will be able to add their professional expertise. The fitting cart should also have a selection of shafts available, so the flex is only component. A different shaft model will also change the flight.

I was wondering what Titleist bring ... Trackman?

My range doesn't have anything like that

Don't knock "senior shafts"

For some reason one aimed at low handicap senior or lady players fitted my swing perfectly. I have a more rhythm based swing that is fairly steep. The stiff shaft with a flexible tip helps me get a lot more club head speed.

I was sure once I developed a better sweeping motion I would need a different shaft but that's probably for when I join a new club in a year or two. Currently swinging it like I am is doing the job so I don't complain. When I do "go after it then the club head can lag and produce a fade so it forces me to keep within my tempo.

I did get fitted when I was a 15 handicapper too, it was instrumental for getting me down to 12 and it set two records for me, longest drive into the wind at 294 yards and longest ever at 374.

Who knows what I could do if I get fitted in the future when my swing is coming on leaps and bounds at the moment?

Looking at the Titleist fitting website they use Trackman as you would suspect so I would think they will bring one with them.

374 with a senior flex shaft.....

I'm off to Kings Hill at the end of March, to get retro-fit for a stiff shaft, as I know that the regular for me is useless. They use a launch monitor, but I believe only the National centres use Trackman.
