Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone had any tips for The Open.

I have put a few each way bets on a few rank outsiders as BetFred are paying out on places 1-6.

So far I have money on
Khan 500/1
Rock 150/1
Stanley 200/1

Would be interesting to know who any of you would be backing or if you have any good tips on players that may be massively overlooked.

If tradition of lytham is anything to go by top 10 world ranking Ayer will win. Though the is a bit of support for an els or Harrington comeback?

I think the biggest problem that you have at present is that the traditional links are not playing like traditional links due to the amount of rain fall we've had everywhere. I'm sitting watching big Phil and others playing high flop shots onto links greens with the balls checking up and spinning.

I'm also watching the balls pitch in the fairway and stop.

The firey links greens and fairways are not happening at present so I think it really opens up the field as the greens are not as hard and fast as they really should be.

Could have another Todd Hamilton or Shaun Micheel type winner.

Totaly agree crawford.

I know people commenting on Castle Stuart being so easy, but i think if you went to any links at the moment with no wind you would see these type scores.

we will see next week at the open, might see low scores too.

Players I'd have an Open punt on would be;

Stricker
Mahan
Westwood
Simpson
I haven't checked the prices on these guys yet but I doubt you'll get huge odds.

I will give you a tip. Its gonna rain :)

More seriously i think players that make lots of birdies and attack will do well and somebody of that ilk will win. Westwood, Mickelson and Coelsaerts will go well i reckon. It is pretty wide open though. One player who i have seen sneaking along back into form is Stenson who i think will do something good soon.
