67 in the final round and finished 2 back in 3rd place, just ahead of Steve Williams. He's still got some way to go and one swallow doesn't make a summer but there are certainly signs of life.

I would think he will be pretty happy with the latest step in his comeback. prob a 7/10 performance for the week, made lots of birdies just a few dropped shots more than he would have liked.

that was a good finish to his week,i don't think the 3rd rnd should upset him because a few of the players had high scores especially dj with 2 back to back 75's.

It will do his confidence a lot of good although it has to be said it wasn't exactly a strong field.
Yea I agree, the field could have been stronger though at least the top 20 finishers are mostly familiar names.

It's not about how strong the field is at the moment, it's about being able to trust his swing in tournament play and 2 67s and a 68 will do a lot for his confidence. There were some decent names in there with decent recent form such as Scott and he finished above them so he is at least competitive.

Interesting how many have viewed (or re-viewed) this thread. Rory and all the other new guys may well be the future of the game but, love him or hate him, it's still Tiger who grabs our attention, even for those who post "Boring" or "Yawn". We still can't resist him. If you were that bored you wouldn't click on the thread.
Let's hope the biggest draw in golf is back.....seems to me that he really has been missed regardless of whether he is liked or not.

I could go on but will just say 43 of the top 50 in the world rankings weren't there.
I think he needs to play well and compete under pressure of a strong field to get back to his best.
But as I said, it will help his confidence.
I get what you are saying Bob but you need to come back somewhere. I think he'll play ok at the Presidents Cup and continue to make progress and then come back next Spring fully charged and ready to go. It's about trusting your swing and he is clearly heading in the right direction and just needs to find a way to stop those killer over par rounds

Of course he needs to do it in stronger fields but look at it this way, 7 of the worlds top 50 finished below woods in an equally week field. You gotta start somewhere.

I think, as has been said before, that he needs to play more Tournaments.
Not really a good time of year to make a comeback though with only the President's Cup and the Chevron left this year.
Will be interesting to see how he gets on at the PC and whether his body will stand up to it.
I hope this is a return to form but it's going to be well into Feb/march before we know for sure.
