Tiger

i'm glad to see huim playing well again and i hope it continues, whether he starts winning again i'm not much fussed about,i'd liek to see him win again and be almost half of what he was before but good solid performances is a start.

golf has been exciting over the last year anyway without him but i will be honest i'm excited to see him back and was intrigued when he was playing at the frys.com open.

For want of repeating myself, it would not bother me if Tiger Woods never played in another tournament ever again, never mind if he never wins another one.

The man is a sullen, sulky, morose bore who gives nothing of himself to the game which has made him a multi millionaire.

Give me a tournament when any one of half a dozen or more players are in the mix coming down the stretch any day of the week. I cannot abide watching someone win by a street - it's boring, end of.

The thing is, when Tiger was his best, we never had to buy Tiger as a person (bar his father dying) when we were watching him, we were watching an animal destroying the field week in week out, I disagree, that is great tv, it forces everyone else to up their game. He has had problems and also his fair share of tantrums on the course (hellooo, John Daly, Sergio, Monty, Seve, cejka, Christie kerr, Paula Creamer...the list goes on.). He is a take it or leave it person, but as a golfer is exciting to watch when he is on form.

cant say that I am a huge fan of what we see of tiger as a person, but as a golfer, he was exeptional, and has the ability to rise up the rankings again. I cant see him becoming so dominant again though. The rise of the younger generation, who grew up watching tiger et all seem to be tougher mentally, and do not fear tiger in the same way that golfers in the past appeared to.
I think he will win again, will get into contention many more times, needs to ditch the nike putter and get the scotty back out though in my opinion!
It will be exciting to see likes of Rory, Luke etc going toe to toe with Tiger, and hopefully should make good viewing.

Rory, Kaymer, Jason Day, Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson, Camilo Vilegas, Ryo Ishikawa to name but a few, mean I'm not at all worried about whether golf will be exciting in the post-Tiger era (which we may already be in to some degree...)

Problem is, outside Golf who really knows these guys? TW is known around the world and good or bad he is still a massive draw for the game, that`s why the TV/Sponsorship Companies and the tournaments still want him to play well. I think he was magical at his peak, but because of the persona he portrayed, he has very little support now....the last couple of times I have seen him play, he seems to have lost all zest for the game, surely unless something drastic changes, he will never win another major?

You're right, he does absolutely nothing, not a thing, nada, zero, zilch...........

I'm well aware of the Foundation - I'm referring to his behaviour at tournaments both on and off the course, where he behaves like a sulky brat for 4 1/2 hours during his round and then gives absolutely zip to the press/media during his post round "audiences".

The paying and viewing public deserve better.

You must be watching different golf from me then.
Both tours are full to the brim with sulky golfers, come to think of it, its easier to pick out the odd golfer who is not prone to the odd sulk when they are going through a bad patch.

There will be few people on here who have not sulked, threw a club, sworn etc :D

Pot kettle black

So you found Rory's US Open win boring?

What's going on here?! Is it give "Billysboots" a hard time night?!

No, I didn't find Rory's win boring, simply because he doesn't go out and destroy a field week after week, which is exactly what Woods in his prime used to do. But then I suspect you actually knew that, and just chose to split hairs for the sake of it.

Tiger bashing - theres a novelty. Lets get it straight. For a while he was almost untouchable and played sublime golf. Those days are gone and now he is in the pack along with a younger gene pool and will have to play exceptionally well and regularly to make any sort of impression. He probably still has the tools providing a) the knee holds up b) he stops searching for his swing and plays with what he has which is still better than many c) he gets back put and playing regularly.

Is a tournament better with him? At the moment he's just another player but monopolises the coverage so for the arm chair fan probably not. If however he can find that spark again then watching a Tiger charge on the back nine on Sunday is a great sporting spectacle. I think his world ranking probably does him a disservice given the amount of golf he missed (for varying reasons) and that a fuller schedule and some degree of consistancy will see that change. Do I care. A bit but not as much as I did

One bogey-free round in 9 months doesn't make him the player he was. The time to work out if he's back or not is firstly after the cut and secondly after round 4.
Just making the cut and finishing 45th isn't going to convince anyone.

Interesting to see, during a very quick look down the leaderboard, that there's not a single European in the field - obviously the Barclays has attracted all the big Euro names but there's none whatsoever in Oz.

I'd like to see him back at his best as his golf was sublime at his peak. I'm not sure he's hungry enough to regain it but let's see...
