I've found the Tiger thread fascinating so thought a wee bit of poll action might make for an interesting summary of forumer's thoughts on him

I have always enjoyed watching him but feel he has let all his fans down and more importantly with his posistion as a role model really badly let himself and everyone else down.

Went for the admired but never warmed option Mike , never liked his arrogant attitude , i find arrogance the lowest level as traits go . have to admire his golfing ability tho , whether some people care to admit it or not he took golf on to the level its at financial wise , both tournament & player sponsorship , i think the fact he played the perfect father perfect family card so much was the cause of so much back lash , sell people anything & once it is close to what it says on the pack you will do well , sell them an image when reality is the exact opposite & the house of cards will come tumbling down ,nay they will be pulled down by the people who fell for the lie & are hurt by the deciet ..

Legend.

Best golfer by a country mile to have played the game during my short spell on this planet so I love watching him play.....I have yet to see anyone destroy fields like him and I doubt if I will ever see his like again.

Always been a fan.

Don't care what he has done off the course, but to have a small percent of his talent would be amazing. Best golfer that I have seen since I started playing the game.

Never warmed to him, but cant fault his golf. But then I'm old enough to remember the big three in there hayday. He will get nowhere near them. Oh and dont forget the great Johnny Miller. He would have beaten Tiger by a mile.

Wind up..............who's Johnny Miller......

Dodger if I was your age I would agree 100%. However, 25 years ago I was rooting for Seve to win the masters when big Jack ripped up the back nine in 30 shots to win his 6th masters at the age of 46. I’ve never been glued to the TV as much in my life. At that point I thought no one will ever beat his record and if Tiger does I will tip my hat.

I would love to see him hit his best form again, if only to give us someone to compare the current crop of "top" golfers to. I never took a shine to him, but by god, his mental strength was on another planet, unfortunately, so were his morals.

I have enormous respect for him especially as he had to contend with racism, prejudice and threats to get to the top, he handled himself impeccably in front of the media and was a role model for any aspiring youngster as well as inspiring the modern pro's to step up a gear or continue to eat his dust.
It's sad to see any human being fall from grace, we all have our own skeletons firmly locked in our respective cupboards, the difference is Tiger had a zillion people trying to open his 24/7.

So I voted always been a fan, I'm not a fanboy but isn't the world of Golf a more colourful and exciting place when the Tiger walks amongst it!

One thing he did do is open the world of golf to many who had no interest in the game. How many times have you been knocking a few balls about a local playing field or the like. There will always be some kids shouting go on hit it tiger or words to that effect.

To watch him play golf at his best was and always will be a pleasure. You always felt he could produce the goods from even the most impossible spot, and still can, occasionaly.
His holing out from 12 feet and in was unbelievable, the more important the putt the more likely he seemd to be to hole it.

In a way I also liked his arrogance on the course (but not off it). When you're at the pinnacle of your sport I think a bit of arrogance is allowed, think of Eric Cantona, Matthew Hayden, Eric Bristow, would they have been as memorable without that arrogance? It all adds to the aura of the player, and it helps if your opposition is intimidated before you've even picked up a club!

Miller??

I take it you are referring to the *** stake......yes you are indeed therefore correct,Miller would beat Tiger by a mile there but as a golfer you are obviously a)on the wind up or b)incredibly uneducated.

Tiger dont seem to cut it with his brothers tho,you don't see too many black folk on the tours,so he aint that much
of an inspiration to his black american people.

He's also half Asian - that tsunami in on its way, looks at the ladies game.
PS Yani Tseng is an awsome golfer.
