Tiger in another car crash

I think it's pretty obvious that tiger has an addiction problem and has had one for some time.

Anyway it would seem that he has put out a statement out saying that he is stepping back from golf to get treatment so I would say that does allude to the fact that the guy has some issues to deal with that attributed to the car accident

He really had no choice I feel, and it's clearly the right thing to do.

Let's hope he finds the answers to his problems away from the spotlight.

It's a pretty standard crisis management response, no doubt written and put out by his management company. I hope he gets help. More than that, I hope he gets someone else to drive him around. Whatever he does to himself is his own business. Putting others at risk, that is a whole different situation.

He’s getting treatment for his addiction to texting? 🤷🏻‍♂️
How many times have we heard the same bs come from his management team, I wish him well but I’m not buying all this staged statement stuff.

It’s prob a media release straight from the handbook

He isn’t really playing golf at the moment so isn’t stepping back from anything

You don’t need a driver if your in jail.

Maybe he needs a real world punishment just like ordinary Americans would get.
That might sort his attitude to driving out before he kills someone.

My dad was involved in a head on with a motorcyclist who had been drinking, he wasn't wearing a helmet. My old man very rarely spoke about it - and I was too young to remember it at the time so I really don't know, or care to know too many details - but I know my old fella lived with the image of that young lads head hitting the windscreen for the rest of his days.
The lad was probably dead before he hit the floor at the back of my dads car, a tragic waste of a life caused by impairment. I have zero sympathy for Tiger in that regard - he's very, very lucky that he hasn't killed himself, or somebody else.

So before this crash he wasn't impaired or addicted, but now he's had the crash he is?
The statement that's been put out is woe is me, and trying to mitigate the anger towards him.
I am all for giving everyone a chance in life, this is not his first, 2nd, 3rd but 4th. If he has an sense, he will get help and then go live as a recluse somewhere very quiet.

Everything about it so far has a "woe is me" feel to it. Everything except Tiger is to blame for his multiple accidents it seems. He's now been given permission to leave the country to get treatment for "his privacy". Normal Joe Bloggs would have been locked up by now.

He definitely feels like he deserves special treatment, there’s even confusion over his trial.

Depending on which article you read he’s either requested a trial by jury or demanded a trial by jury.

Personally I think he believes get a trial by jury gives him the chance to play the victim.

Not really true, he may only be playing on TGL but more impactfully he was going to work with Brian Rolapp to reshape the PGA Tour being Chairman to the Future Competition Committee - so a big deal!

Can this thread be renamed the judgement thread? 😂

Amazing how anything to do with Tiger still generates hundreds of replies.

Some deep prejudices being revealed by some posters. Someone commented that they wouldn’t trust him around women. As if he’s some sort of crazed monster that’s going to pounce if left alone with a woman. FFS

Why should he be treated any differently to anyone else who is an addict, drives like it and has had 4 crashes (fortunately no-one else has been hurt or killed) ?
He is just a golfer who has a problem, but has chosen to risk his and more importantly any one elses lives, by his actions. I cannot remember how many times I have heard it said a car is as dangerous as a loaded gun.

Faldo seems to voice opinions on a lot of stuff these days...

Well he is a commentator and multiple Masters Champion so not surprising he’d be asked for his views this week. Having read it as well he’s absolutely spot on, I don’t think any responsible adult can find a single thing to disagree with what he’s said.

I never mentioned any other players or about him being a role model 🤷‍♂️

Just clearly said what it shows is he is still the biggest name in golf
Coca Cola is the biggest drinks co. in the world, Mr Beard is the biggest name in YouTube, Mr Blobby got to No. 1 in the charts and was the biggest song that week ——— who the hell cares, your post saying Tiger is the biggest and moves the needle the most is utterly banal

Any golf journalist or golf fan who is spending time in the build up to the Masters or the Open thinking and writing about Tiger as a contender for winning these Majors needs to give their head a wobble, and isn’t a serious person

There are so many more interesting and relevant stories in golf in terms of who is likely to win > Tiger Woods, in 2026

Yet you’ve entirely missed the point the previous poster was making.

Nobody is talking about Tiger winning or contending. Yet the fact does remain he is still the biggest story in golf and remains the biggest draw for the majority of golf fans. The man doesn’t need to contend to
Draw crowds or be the biggest story in sport. Rightly or wrongly the man being a complete bell end as a human for what he’s done, it doesn’t change the fact he’s the greatest player in modern history play the game and literally the man that brought the game to where it is as we know it, as a viewing spectacle and financially.

That’s why he’s still the biggest story because he’s surpassed what he does in a course to become it biggest global star ever. We don’t have to like him, or agree with why he does but to argue against him being the biggest story in golf is simply not correct the last 2 weeks prove that. 🤷🏼
