Tiger has dropped Scotty

Thing the Ping comment was meant in sarcasm but I agree that if he started again I doubt he'd look at Nike. Its interesting that there are lots of guys saying he uses Nike putters in practice and then switches to the Scotty which I find strange as surely the idea of practice rounds is to get a feel for the greens. If you use one putter and then switch on the day of the 1st round to something different isn't that negating a lot of the work you've done. I accept that most of the top guys can putt with pretty much anything but it seems weird that he'd do that. Anyway, what would be wrong if he has made the switch. Lots of players change putters at some point and he's not contracted (no-one is) to Scotty

I know that he wouldn't be interested in Ping, but as it happens, I met Chubby Chandler in the BA Lounge at Heathrow just after the Tiger slapper scandal broke, and he told me that Nike would definitely stick with him, but Ping had no tolerance for any nonsense.

I know that the Solheims are pretty religious (and I suspect they didn't vote for Obama).

Without Tiger there is no Nike golf IMO they were never gonna drop him

Also Nike is and always has been just about money so why would they

I agree. Tiger has been worth every cent Nike spent on him. He is the golden goose for them.

I think there was something in one of the US business papers which showed the Tiger effect on Nike. They have made squillions of dollars from that deal.

am i being cycncial or could this be an enforced decision by Nike along the lines of we stood by you sunshine so now you need to show us some corporate love back...squeeze some sales outta a player who's peaked.

his use of scotty's did wonders for titleists stock

Nike have been trying to get Tiger to switch for years and made numerous copies of his Cameron putter but until now he rejected all of them. They wouldn't have given him an ultimatum.

I totally agree with the above....I reckon also that Nike are pulling the strings now and not the other way around as used to be the case with woods.....
11 years with a putter is a long time and to switch to a putter thats nearly identical in every way save for the name is a little bit strange.......I think its all B/S in wood's interview where he says that he struggles on slow greens thats why he changed.....Complete Carp if you ask me!

By all accounts, the Method is a fantastic putter. It isn't like he's dropping Lionel Messi to stick Lee Trundle up front.

Whats with all the anti Nike post's, I agree when they 1st came on the market they were playing at it but over last 5yrs they have come on leaps and bounds. I get through some kit but can say nike rescues, woods, and top of the range irons(not good enough to use em) are now up there with the best.

Which manufacture won the open last yr without woods?

This is really not much to do with the merits of the different putters. Nike have been pushing Tiger for years to switch. They would never kill the golden goose over putters - their main market is never going to be that. Remember he didn't start using their irons until years after he signed with them.

Tiger is now heavily into all that 12 step change bollox, and is changing loads of things to see if they make a difference - his coach, his manager, his driver shaft, his putter, so this is just all part of that upheaval.

I am wiling to bet the Cameron makes a comeback.

sorry whats the 12 step change thing?

I think the 12 step thing is something to do with helping him with his addiction

I still dont think Tiger would change to a putter just for money he would have to be able to use it at least aswell as his scotty.

sorry whats the 12 step change thing?

Its the Alcoholics Anonymous addiction programme, parts of which have been adopted by other addictions. The same approach is not so popular over here, but change to attain personal redemption are big parts of it.
