Aright guy's
i was at a driving range today which ive been to a million time's
but today i took my driver 3 wood and pitch 8/6/4 iron's
so ive hit all except the 3 wood and driver
so i skipped the 3 wood and went to the driver
.I hit 1 ball and my driver head hit off the pole that partition's
of the driving bay's. So i said to the guy the work's in the place
and he said the mat has been moved and would have to wait til the boss come's in.
What would you guy's expect to happen in this situation???

I always check the mat position and take a couple of slow swings to make sure I have plenty of room. If in doubt at all I'll shift the mat...

Sometimes a leftie has been in the bay and done the same to suit their swing.

What ****** me off was the facted that another guy came in
and went to the same bay and was about to hit the driver aswell
Just before i stopped him and told him what happened to me
Ive had to do theyre job for them and the bay is still open
a total joke

It's a tough one as people shift the mats all over the place to suit them and their practice and I guess the staff aren't likely to check after every user to re-align them.

ive swung with a flat swing and hit one of those poles. its your fault im afraid. we can expect people to chase around after us like children. you should have checked before making a big swing with your longest club.

I'd say it was your own fault for not checking first. I'm a leftie and have the move the mat each visit to a new bay. In fact my own 3 wood has a dent in the head when I done the exact same thing. I learnt my lesson, like you, the hard way!! I wouldn't expect the manager to do anything about it.

i didn't notice it had been moved and it's the whole thing thats moved not just the mat the rubber the surround's the mat so would be a heavy thing to move.

I took a practice swing in a bay with a LH pillar and took a nice chip out of my old Burner. It's the sort of thing you only do once and I now only use a bay with a pillar to the right!

+1

And I'm not eligible to claim mis-sold PPPs because knew I would be excluded from any benefits, so never bought them!

I dont agree with you .
so why didnt the guy fix it after i had a problem with it?
He just let another guy go into the same bay and like i said i caught him just before he hit the
driver or he would have been another peed off punter

exactly. its something you only do once. i do choose those bays with the pillar on the right too.

Not realy sure what answer you want ? Did you damage your driver ? do you think they are responsible ? the 4 iron shots must have been close if the driver hit it .. , if it was me id see it as my own fault been honest .

Sad to say but he may have if you damaged your club, then moved the mat to prevent further damage to your kit why would the next person in the bay need to move it again. This ust proves that each person has their own swing and should check clearance prior to practising with the big dog or any other club.

You wouldn't take a shot close to a tree on the course without first checking the clearance to prevent damage.

I've knackered a club, completely snapped the shaft, and as I realised I should have checked, never even approached the staff at the range. Just made me realise that I must check every time I go to practise, unless the bays are huge.

Most ranges also have some small print to the effect of damage is your own fault.

Yep, sorry mate but I think you are banging your head(!) against a brick wall on this one. I can't see the range management being prepared to do anything about it. Just put it down to experience I'm afraid, hopefully no damage done to your driver?

I am always careful when in the range. I have a wide swing so can get a bit close to posts on the range. At Woodhall Spa I had a go with RickG's RBZ 3-wood on the range hit it really nice, then I got pointed out that I nearly smashed it off the post, yet I was using the same bay as he was to hit it.....That could have been a very expensive day out.....

Absolutely nothing except he tells you tough it was your fault and you get even more annoyed.

This happened to me the other week. No one's fault but your own I'm afraid.

My 3 wood now has a gash on the top of it. My own fault for being such a knob and not checking the placing of the mat before I starting swinging.

Mats move, people move them. He should have checked before he swung just like you should have. To be honest with you, if you were close enough to actually hit it, then you must have been standing pretty close to it so should have realised it was possible to hit it.

I'm afraid to say it's no-ones fault but your own.
