This will please a lot of forumers!!!

not wildly keen on Alliss, i feel he's rather had his time as a relevant golf commentator. was very good once, but now rather out of touch. he's become Murray Walker before they retired him, a great voice, but talked a fair amount of pony.

i'm sure that Captain Wainright Montague of that lovely course St David's Down the Valley where I had a splendid round in 1957 will disagree with me...

I would much rather listen to SNF than Monty repeating everything he....repeating everything he.....erm....repeating everything he says 3 times

:blah:

He's an arse, so is Torrance. I'd have liked the beeb get some younger commentators to work with Brown and Alliss. David Howell springs to mind. Wayne Riley is a popular choice , but I think he's contracted to sky.

Well he can't be any worse than that tennis twit Bollettieri.

or indeed that miserable 'steward that is Alan Green.

I like insight and commentary, what I can't bear is constant "ooh, he did that wrong and I'll tell you why"

I can't stand Faldo but he is a good commentator - he has been there so many times. I also love seeing Monty commentating on Sky. He comes out with some absolute classics.
IMO Howell is not so good.
Hazel Irvine is really annoying.
Linneker is awful and when they use people like Chris Evans out on the course it really bugs me. They should keep to ex golfers and they don't all have to be British - it would be interesting to get a US view especially when the weather turns sour.

Absolutely not. I'd rather listen to Alan Hansen and that's saying something as I cant stand him either!!!!
