Just saw Mr Faldo is joining the BBC for the Open this year. Personally I like his commentary and unique insight alongside Mr Golf himself.

he gets on my nerves with his pompous drivel, the best commentators on golf are BOXY and RADAR witty and down to earth, are the beeb going to dust off some of the old boys network again this year or that scottish woman who only appears once a year?

Some of his sommentary style is not too my liking, but the guy knows what it's like and what it takes to win an Open (x3) so I value his opinions.

A good addition... infinitely better than sam "Beautiful shot" Torrance" who has about two ways of describing a shot.

I like Mark James too... droll without it being an affectaion a la Mark Lawrenson.

Love Peter, man is a genius. Even though Monty_Brown has tried to stoke the fire, I love Peter even though he was born in Berlin and adopted a country South of God's country as his nationality!!!!

The only thing that surprises me about this announcement is the fact the BBC have not gone for someone like Delia Smith or maybe Roy Hodgson to give us an insight.

:)

Faldo is shocking. Bitter, conceited, rambling, unfunny.

The way BBC are trying to do away with all sport, he seems a perfect choice.

I agree 100%. The man is a monumental tool.

Who can forget him singing my way at his Open winner's speech? My toes still curl at the thought.

And his Ryder Cup captaincy was typically egocentric, muddled and inept.

BBC - useless on just about every level in my view.

Edited to add that I disagree with those who don't like Peter Allis. He is a bit of a bore when you meet him but his golf commentary is peerless.
