THIS is how it's done......USA style

Well I think a lot of people also kneel as well

But I don’t see why there should be the national anthem before any club game , the players aren’t representing their country so why sing the anthem - it’s very cringeworthy

The US are very patriotic- sometimes a bit too much

But the girl can certainly bellow out the tunes

I've been to a couple of live US sporting events, seen others on tv. The anthem is a chance for someone to screech the living daylights out of a song, giving it their best Christina Aguilera. It is less about the anthem and more about, can they hit that massive note. The note gets bigger, longer, screechier every time I see someone sing it. It's their moment of fame, their audition. Painful to me but they seem to lap it up.

I feel for the players in all of this. Basketball and Baseball players play huge amounts of games per season, 100+, and they have to listen to this wailing every time.

Thanks but no thanks from me.

I think there's something odd about the way America glorfiies the flag and the military and Britain's going the same way. You'd almost think the glorification of the military was being used to put people off questioning the validity of governmental decisions to get involved in "foreign wars" for dubious purposes...

Patriotism - what an absolute load of nonsense. Feeling pride in something you had no influence over? Yea, weird concept.

I take it you’ve never been there then, as no small number of the “Patriots” that you refer to would have little time for that young lady, based purely on appearance.

You have no influence over where you are born so having pride in that fact is a complete non sequitur.

That applies to everyone you will meet and likely everything you will do from a job to hobbies. It is not a sound reason to say that no one should have pride or demonstrate that pride. Its not for me, but your argument makes no sense

It makes perfect sense. There is nothing to be proud about in something as random as your place of birth. Be proud of something you've worked hard to achieve, not something that was pure happenstance.

 I don’t understand why she was growling?? The whole national anthem thing at the opening of an envelope is nonsense, even more so if it’s compulsory patriotism. Surely the irony of ‘the land of the free’ making the standing at the anthem compulsory isn’t lost???

The Septics get so riled up about a song and a piece of material.
I just don’t get it!?!
So many of them are totally lacking in standards about almost anything else!

Thought it was an awful rendition, and to be honest I would suggest if she carries on attempting to sing like that she will have shot vocal chords by the time shes 20.

Have a national anthem before an international, but for club games...forget it.

As an aside, ours should be "Land of Hope and Glory".
