Thinking of getting a 58deg wedge.

learn how to hit high shots with your SW (and other clubs)

Old pro I used to see called old Bob (passed away many years ago but great guy), when confronted by the cocky young guys who said they can draw/fade to order and had a club for every standard shot, used to say "come back to me laddie when you can hit a 4 iron like a wedge"

in other words be creative, I use my 56* and open/close the face to suit. Plus it's more fun:whoo:

The basic pitch for me is
Narrow stance
Ball centre or back a touch
Weight and therefor hands forward
Hold the grip at the bottom
Quite a steep backswing and downswing taking a divot after the ball
Backswing and followthrough the same length
Finnish up with upper body facing the target

If I was the the OP I would be getting a chipping lesson if the ball isn't stopping properly. There sounds like a technique issue. That said, I would rather a 58 degree wedge than 54 especially for bunker shots.
