Things That Gladden The Heart

Is it Christmas, celebrating the birth of Jesus, that people on here don’t like/hate or what people have turned it into that is the problem? Commercialism, drunken behaviour, forced jollity, etc seem to be the main gripes. If people stripped it back and just spent quality time with those they love without all the pointless add ons, then maybe Christmas will be enjoyable again.
You got it spot on.

I watched one of these ‘reminiscing’ YouTube videos that just fish for our views…but it was about family Christmas Day in the 1970s…how much simpler and family focussed it was; how most had and received a lot less, but that the less was so anticipated with excitement in the run up to Christmas Day, and then received with more gratitude on the day and valued so much thereafter.

Sure things were generally tougher than today, and houses colder (🥶), but if we can put the overwhelming commercialism of Christmas aside and set expectations differently…maybe also taking in a bit of the meaning of Christmas…then maybe it’d be more enjoyable for those who find it a bind.

Just blinds to fit tomorrow and run an ethernet cable to the Sky Minibox but looks like I'll be hitting my drunken target of finishing the garden room by Christmas.

The bar is just getting stocked up as I type by the Mrs and the Perfect Draft is being put in the far corner... Then the bar is open!
Just as a comparison, this is what it looked like just 4 weeks ago as I was moving stuff out to the new unit...image0 (2).jpeg

Been doing 12 Days of 5Ks throughout December in aid of CHAS, Children’s Hospices Across Scotland.

December isn’t the easiest month to fundraise for obvious reasons, but as of today I’ve raised £310.00, mainly by doing updates on Facebook, for its problems it has its good side.
Had donations from Army buddies I’ve not seen in over 15 years.

Great to see people caring about a fantastic Charity.

Well done. 👍
I know you didn’t post this to drum up donations but why not put a link up on your post. Can’t hurt.

Just out of interest, what type of blinds are you fitting?

Room looks great by the way. 👍

In the gym today minding my own business felt a tap on the shoulder! Turns out to be a lad I took through training many moons ago and worked for me a while after, haven’t see him in about 8/9years. Had a really good catch up ended up being in the gym 45mins longer than planned chatting and we’re heading out for a coffee tomorrow afternoon as he wants some career advice as after all these years in his words “he still sees me as a mentor and someone to look up to” 🥰

That little chat and comment has genuinely made my day to know I’ve had a positive effect on someone. Looking forward to a little chat over cake and coffee tomorrow now.
