Things That Gladden The Heart

We were looking for something to do today and found a flyer for a farm with some birds of prey near Bedford so popped along and it was amazing how many they had

A brilliant afternoon with the daughter seeing everything from Hawks , Kites , Eagles , Hornbills , Owls and Vultures

Also had loads of goats and other small animals plus some critters

It’s somewhere we will visit again

We went there a month or two ago, it was awesome. Did you manage to catch one of the exhibitions where they fly the owls inches over your heads? It was great. My little girl was terrified of those eagles that weren't in cages though. 😄

Yes we booked a session with the eagle where you can feed it and have it fly up to you etc which I did but daughter a bit wary

The show at the end was brilliant with the bald eagles flying around and then owls and kites

It was very quiet so when we were walking around one of the falconers was walking to the cage with a little Tawny owl and stopped and sat with my daughter talking her through everything about the owl which was brilliant for her

Great place

The only thing we weren't keen on was the amount of dead little chicklet corpses lying around in the cages, but luckily my daughter didn't notice those so that saved us a tough explanation. 😬 "Oh those are just the bird's cuddly toys that they play with!" 😆

Wife turns 40 in September so I thought we'd have a trip to London for a nice meal at a restaurant she's mentioned a few times, decided on the date and set an alarm for 5.59 this morning to book a table, bookings open 2 months in advance at 6am. Nailed it 👌🏾
Good man... Where you going?

Enjoy!

I’d like a week in the rain. Too hot, too humid the last few days.

Thanks, Bri.

I’m actually down just outside Estepona, so not a million miles from your neck of the woods I don’t think. If you could tolerate the heat for a few more days on my behalf I’d really appreciate it!

Gymkhana, got two Michelin stars but read a few reviews saying it’s overrated but would rather make our own minds up. I'm not telling her it's booked either, give her the surprise.
Nice..really want to try that one. We went to Benares last year which was awesome, we had the tasting menu 🤤 I ate so much I probably could have rolled around Berkeley square afterwards!

Every high end restaurant always gets a few bad reviews, mainly people complaining about the price of things, but you know the price before you go so why complain?

Not often I would feel positive after getting my car insurance renewal however it arrived today and this years price is £477.00 having previously been £646.00. So used to seeing an annual increase regardless of claims that this was a nice surprise.

I don't mind paying if I'm getting quality and I think we will be, £200 deposit I've had to leave, that's the minimum spend for dinner so I know what's coming. Glad I've got another 2 months, it's like paying for dinner with Klarna.

Might do the tasting menu, we did it at Opheem in Birmingham and that was fantastic, must have been there 3 hours.

Interesting. Had long fancied Benares, so went. And was very disappointed. Obviously better than a normal, local, restaurant but found it very underwhelming. Still fancy going to Gymkhana.

Just seen a weather alert for the next 4 days. Coastal temps in the high 30’s, inland up to 45*. So far, the hottest June on record.

Go steady, lots of drinks 🍾 🍻

What element disappointed? I enjoyed it all, the location, the bar area before and after our meal and the food/service. Been twice now, work and with the Wife. But I will go to Gymkhana sometime this year, fancied it for ages.

You do realise he was a ventriloquist?
