Steven Spielberg asked John Williams to write the music for his film 'Schindlers List'.
Williams watched some of the film and said
''I can't do this justice, you need someone better''
Spielberg replied
''I know, but they're all dead''

Luckily for us, he excepted

Back in the 70's went to a posh restaurant (frog's legs on menu!) with my wife's sister and husband. We were ushered into a dimly lit bar with chesterfield settees and a chaise longue.
The Maitre'D entered and asked if we'd care for an aperitif. The ladies ordered something appropriate and my BiL, looking a liitle nonplussed, asked for a cherry brandy. I said "I'll have a pint please".
When he left the room my BiL hissed " You didnt say I could have a pint!" 😅
Five minutes later he was delicately sipping his tiny glass with his pinkie erect as I exaggerated my noisy pint slurps with "Aah"'s
Thoughts of green chartreuse and the Pope come to mind 😀

Aside…buying my folks a bottle of liqueur for their Christmas pressie was something I did for a good few years. It’s not the sort of thing they could really afford to buy so it was a bit of a treat. I tried to vary it year to year. Cointreau, Crème de Cacao, Kahlua, Tia Maria, Cherry Brandy, Baileys, Grand Marnier…always went down well.

My mum once caught me taking a slug of Grand Marnier on my way out to school, she went mental. It was primary school as well, probably explains a lot about my life choices. 😄

Lovely family trip to a pantomime in Chelmsford this afternoon. The twins first panto. However was extra special for them as my cousins son was in it so they were excited to see him. Got a shout out and met some the actors after. Much to the twins amazement. Think eldest twin was a bit shocked to see the wicked queen up close lol 🤣

Anne-Marie Duff reading a slightly abridged version of A Christmas Carol (now on iPlayer BBC4). Engaging and utterly engrossing.

Just her sitting in a simple set that was dressed and lit according to the changing chapters of the story; sitting and speaking - but more than just speaking, she uses simple but effective body language superbly to complement her reading.

If you’ve never read, seen or heard A Christmas Carol - this is a great way of discovering it as it lets your imagination do the picturing. Then go read it. Even if you have read it before this is a great way to revisit it - then go re-read it. And only then you can watch one of the film or TV adaptations.

Or, if you're like me, just don't read and re-read it or see any TV or film adaptations?

Aye.
It all went down very well, the sprouts were awesome, especially in a sandwich in the evening.
Cauliflower cheese on toast for Boxing Day breakfast.
Yes please!
I cooked Christmas dinner & forgot to do the cauliflower cheese 😬
I don’t like it so 🤷‍♂️😂

I was out the other day for lunch. The fish finger and cauliflower cheese toastie caught my attention as I’d never seen before. Taste sensation!
