Well, that’s me up to 6 HC…5.5. sick as a parrot but the last few medals I’ve played have all been in crap windy weather....I know, I'm playing pi$h. Royal Musselburgh greens are shocking to putt on, yet Dunbar you just stroke the ball.

A few things of note, it only takes a couple of players to have a mental round and I’m up .1 Secondly, some low HC golfers steer clear of medal play if the weathers doesn’t favour them, their true HC is only in good conditions. Thirdly, the amount of no returns at Royal Musselburgh is at pandemic proportions. One medal a few weeks back, over a third NRd out of about 200 players.

Amazed that the club haven't said or done anything with the large numbers of NRs. Too many people take the easy easy out when conditions are hard I'm afraid.

Anyway, look on the bright side you've got more of a chance at Goswick ya auld high handicap bandit

At least you show some signs of sadness at going up to Cat II Unlike someone I know who cares not a jot about going up to Cat III....not mentioning any Smiffys. Oops

Getting fed up with windy conditions down here too. Especially as I knew before I went out last time, in stupidly high winds that a par 72, net 59 was already in.

Getting cut will be easier off 6.

What's the reasons behind so many NR'ing do you think??

Surely if they have such a bad round then why be embarrassed? You get 0.1 back
Maybe that's just me but your handicap should be a true ongoing reflection of your playing standard and if you get 0.1's back or get cut it's all to keep it accurate so people should accept that.

I occasionally play with a bloke who won't play unless the weather is spot on. He's off 5 and has been for 11 years or something. I think he played about 4 comps last year, all to stop going up to 6.

Just seems completely pointless to me. I'm out there rain, hail or shine. I love the challenge of beating the elements.
