Thicker putter grip - has it helped you?

I moved to the Winn Midsize and I found that really helped me in reducing wrist break. I've not been a fan of the superstroke grip but did try out one on an Odyssey tank #7 a month or so ago and did like the combination.

A guy i play with was a superb putter, got a fat grip fitted on a whim and it just didn't work for him. his handicap went up from 6 to 10 in a couple of years. its was his putting that kept him at 6, gone back this year and has started to score again.

works for some, but not a cure all

changed over to the Winn jumbo grip and it has been such a great improvement. I was too handsy on longer putts and this really helped reduce that.

I use a superstroke, but its the thin one, about the same thickness as a normal grip at the top, but its the same size the whole way down, I have been using them for several years now, and love it! Hands just feel better to me on the grip, more even maybe, and i like the feel of the super stroke, not too hard or too soft, just fits me nicely.

I changed to a fat grip as the new putter came with one.

I like the feel of it more than a slim one for sure, instantly liked it. The grip did not make any changes with my left hand below putting or made my stroke better etc. However the actual putter head did make a different with its alignment aids.

I have been using a superstroke 1.0. Putting OK with it but they do not last long enough. Fitted a new one about March and it feels and looks worn already!

Have been looking on eBay for a replacement. Stenson's grip looks good but they are pricey and I don't know anywhere near me that stocks them to try.

I've worked with a few people who were adamant they didn't break their wrists when putting........until they used the V-Easy :)

Bob we're all guilty of that are we not?

I denied I snored until my Tart recorded me one night:rofl:

Thicker grips definitely help if your putting stroke is too wristy or a bit yippy. However I fitted the biggest Super Stroke Fatso 5.0 to one of of my putters and it seemed to take most of the feel out of it. It made the putter feel like a cricket bat. My current Odyssey putter is fitted with a Super Stroke Slim 3.0 grip which for me is about perfect. My average number of putts per round has dropped from about 38 to about 32.

Used a Superstroke Ultra Slim 1.0 (I think that's the model) for a year or so and it helped greatly.
My new Scotty *pulls on belt braces* has a lovely chunky grip so no need to change it...yet 😉

The thick grip solved a different putting issue that I had. I've never been wrist or yippy.

My issue with the normal grip was my right hand getting too far over to the left round the grip into a weak position. I still putted ok, but the blade was coming back to the ball going left so I was having to fan the face open and almost cut the putts in.

The super stroke got my right hand in a much better position with my right thumb running straight down the centre of the grip.

Now it's just the odd toilet stroke to blame. :(

Just for comfort really. I use a SS 1.0 Ultraslim and it just seems to fit in my hands nicely. Never had any putting issues and don't like the really thick ones at all - but horses for courses etc. Tried an old putter recently with a traditional grip and it felt like I was holding a pencil... 27 putts with it was ok though :D

bought a putter on ebay that had a superstroke on it that i was planning to take off and replace, but took it out to the course for a spin and it has never left the bag. the shaft was also shorter too than my normal putter. whatever made the improvement, i'm not complaining.
