The year of the Yang

Being slightly pedantic here. I know they're pros so lots of people are watching but isn't it Tiger's job to score and then mark Yangs card? Surely a fundamental of marking your playing partners card is to actually watch how many he takes and not rely on referees and public to do that for you? You can't score your playing partner if you are walking 50 yards away with your back to your him while he putts.....unless of course you're TW it seems.

The fundamentals of golf should apply to all, no matter what your reputation in the game is.

Oh and half tonne rocks are not loose impediments! ;)

I was soooooo glad TW lost, simple as that. Once again, he showed himself to be petulant, disrespectful, and a complete & utter nob imo, quite why anyone puts up with him is beyond me.

T'was so good to see Yang step up to the mark and beat him one on one, which he did comprehensively, and that shot to the last was simply stunning, and a fabulous way to beat him.

Yes, I know he's good, yes I know he's won the last 2 events, yes i know he's well on the way to perhaps catching Jack's record, yes I know he plays some awesome shots, but until he starts conducting himself a bit more gratiously, and starts showing some humility and engaging with the (quite frankly stupid) number of people that worship the ground he walks upon, ...he'll stay a nob in my book.

The last 4nts of Golf coverage have simply been another 4 episodes of the 'Tiger Woods' appreciation show, and its getting a smidge wearing to say the least.
The 16th last night was a classic example, .......TW hits a 3 wood to a 'Perfect Position', and no similar comment about Yang's shot, which was equally as good, - what the hell is that all about ??

I make no bones about it......... I dislike him intensely....can you tell ??

I don't mind him (and it is a chance to see what may be the best player ever). However, when there are golfers out on the course I get fed up of close ups of the car park space that he will park in when he arrives. Show me some golf! I don't want to see Tiger practicing anything, or walking over bridges, get on with the coverage of who ever is out there. It is like the event only starts once he is on the first tee.

I find that there is way too much coverage of Woods, and maybe this fuels the anti Woods brigade, as he is always on screen, and we get fed up with it. However, this really isn't his fault. It is the fault of the TV broadcasters. Hard to hate Tiger for that in my view.

Yeh, but that's the way they have built him up. The say when Tiger hits a good one as if no one else can do it. It goes like this......"Oooooooh mmmmyyyyyyy godddddddd, did you ever see". They never said that when Yang chipped in. But he's no Tiger.

The coverage was very poor and I got sick to death of dumb yanks screaming "In the hole" or "Go get them Tiger", I think anyone shouting "In the hole" should be banned for life from entering a 5 mile radius of a golf course.

Well spotted Birdieman. It happens also at club level when your marker asks you how many you took on the previous hole.

Wasn't it an absolute delight to see someone enjoying the excitement of playing final round Major golf? Yang's face was exactly what I want to see from these players and not the licking-piss-off-a-nettle expression that seems permanently stuck on Woods fizzog (unless he's 10 clear of course...)

The myth is shattered. Unbeatable when in the lead on the final day - over. Perhaps the other pros might realise this now and show some sense.

Yang played superbly. That shot into 18 is as good as I've ever seen in that situation. Awesome.

If only Sky's coverage could have got its collective tongue out of 'The Great One's' backside, it would have been all the more enjoyable. Between Murray, Harmon, Lee and Clark, you would have been forgiven for thinking Woods could have taken the short cut across the water on 16. Why can't commentators speak evenly about everyone? Replay that last round and imagine the golf was the other way round - can you imagine what it would have been like?

Congrats to Yang.

Still, given that the US LPGA tried to ban non-English speaking women from playing on tour, I wonder how the USPGA felt about a non-English speaking South Korean (yes Sky, it's actually a whole other country from North Korea and there isn't even a country called Korea...) winning their national championship? ;)

I thought it was funny to watch the sour look on the stuffed shirts from the USPGA as the post match speech and interview had to be conducted via an interpretor. You could see everyone thinking "how'll we going to market this"

In that respect, it is no different to Cabrera winning the Master. He doesn't do english either.

Yes, but he ain't Korean and the Yanks don't mind South Americans not talking English while they only win the odd tournament now and then...

but much more understandable when you can be playing the remoter parts of the course!
