Sorry to bore people with another boasting thread about a round but the wife just doesn`t understand or share my excitement with breaking 80 yesterday for the first time. Carded a gross 77 (par 70) in a friendly competition off whites with the lads. Rushed back home beaming with pride but just got a "oh, can you go up in the loft now" from the wife! It has just given me so much confidence that i can get my handicap down further from 15.4 as it currently stands.

Well done on breaking 80.

I'm kinda lucky with my other half, she doesn't like golf, i've tried to get her to play but she says it bores her rigid  I've no idea what she means, but my dad plays and I play and she is genuinely pleased when I play well.

I don't drink or smoke so my only vice is golf and she likes the fact that I get to get out and spend time with my dad doing something we both enjoy.

I dare say that when I become a member of a club, which will be next year, and I get a handicap and maybe start a few club competitions, she will be supportive and encourage me to play well and if I come in one day and say my putter is rubbish, she'll suggest I look for a new one, well she'll be supportive :D

Cheers
Dave

I sympathise.

Whenever I describe my round to her (with actions of course!) she generally looks attentive for a few seconds then simply says "Yawn!"

I know what you mean about a good round .......... you just gotta tell someone about it. I'm generally buzzing for a few days afterwards too.

Well done on breaking 80 by the way, nice one! :)

In this world of equality I sincerely hope that you repay the level of interest when she is extolling the virtues of her latest shopping trip!

I feel quite glad that my wife take an interest in my golf - she always asks how I did and what my score was when I get home from the course. I suspect if she responded with "Yawn" she'd get exactly the same back when telling me of her hobbies and outings!

I know that feeling, came in last week after shooting 74 and she said "is that good?" I would have thought after all these years she'd have some idea of what's good or bad but hey ho, That's what this forum is for

Well played, that's great scoring. :D

Well done on the break of 80. I'm still in the high 90's.

When I get in from a round HID asks how it went I reply either my stableford or stroke depending what it was. When I said I got round in 98 she said "That's brilliant, you only got 37 last week"

I nearly wet myself. Tried to explain the difference but all of a sudden something "came up" and she had to get on with it.
