After a lesson in November, I did have every intention of keeping them up during the winter, until winter arrived and forced us all to hibernate for weeks from the game.
So, I started the season in erratic form, before taking another lesson last Friday with our Pro.

Quickly identifying an issue, and helping me to get to grips with the small change required, I can only say that its been the best £30 Ive spent this year so far :D

Last nights Match saw me play superbly, with a 4&2 win, and some of the best shots ive played for a while, including a 300+yd drive
(with my ageing G5 too !)

Needless to say, - I'll be going for another lesson or 2 in the coming weeks, in the hope of gaining back my Single status this year, so if you have any issues, go see your Pro soon !

Was that with Joe? He is very good and I try to get a lesson in with him once a month or so. He has really helped me progress this year.

It gives me real confidence taking a lesson regularly so I know that bad habits don't get too ingrained and I've got things to work on for the next few weeks.

I'm a little annoyed that my Pro has just bumped his lessons up to £50 p/h. He and I used to have an agreement that I paid him what I would be paid for my time, but I'm not sure he'll agree next time.
I think lessons are great. I just wish I had the time to practice more to take more.

£50 an hour? That's taking the proverbial. Go somewhere else!

My current series of lessons has got me hitting tee shots further but the pro has not yet sorted out my short iron trouble. Two more lessons to go so let's hope he can find a solution.

£50 per hour is pretty standard amongst a lot of the pros my way.

Yeh, but you can't live in a mansion for £300k in the SW.

I think it's too much for tuition in anything, unless the teacher and pupil are right at the top of the tree.

Up my way we go to a good divorce lawyer to get back our single status. :D

There's a pro a couple of miles from me who charges £100 per lesson and you must take at least one lesson per month for 6 months on the trot...

He is pretty well known though and coaches a lot of pros.

Kevin Craggs is his name and he's in the various magazines quite often.

5 lessons for £100 for me. 45 mins - 1 hour. No wonder not enough people go for lessons at that rate.

£100 a lesson? Just how good can he be!

I was paying £20 for 30 minutes a year or so ago - on the look out for a new pro though as there isn't a putting green at the range where I was having lessons before.

I was paying £15 for 30 mins with a young pro near me last just over a year or so ago. He completely rebuilt my swing from scratch and improved my golf majorly. I was cacked handed before.

I do wish I had the funds to have lessons monthly because at the moment I am struggling hugely with the long game. Driver and 3 woods from the tee are pretty good, but long irons from the deck are almost always hooked. Combination of a strong grip (now weakend) and an in to out swing path.

Mid irons have improved alot with the change and now have a 5-10 yard draw mostly. Wedges are on the money lately.

I am sure lessons are the way forward and endorse the OP whole heartedly!

Good shout Chris!

I do think we all get too pre-occupied with the latest equipment, ...finding something that can hit it longer/higher or better, when an occasional £30 with a Pro can seriously do you much more good, as it seems to have proved with me.

But, I do think you have to find someone that you get on with, can relax with, and can relate to, and of course is affordable.

But, a simple observation of my swing resulted in the most unreliable of my Clubs, the Driver, producing 3 of my best drives for a long time, and with the draw that I have been seeking to regain for too long.

Forget the equipment change, whatever it is on your list, forget the new Golf shirt, sell your grandmother, and go get a couple of lessons

I went and had a lesson a couple of days ago. I thought I was striking the ball ok but the direction was a bit hit and miss.

Half an hour later with little tweaks to my grip and address position, and I was hitting most shots where they were supposed to go.

Can't wait to get back on the course but won't be able to until Forest Pines on Saturday. No pressure there then

Well worth it for less than the cost of a dozen pro v's (or whatever), only wish I'd taken some when I was much younger.

Did he weaken your grip at all ?

Not as such. The left stayed where it was and the right has weakened only very slightly, but the main difference is gripping it more in the fingers of my right hand as he thought my right was taking over the swing a little too much.

The other change was having the shape between my arms and club more like a y than a Y if that makes any sense??

If I was on the opposition team at the weekend Bob, I'd think that was designed to get into my head :D
