The Tinkerman..

Make him an offer you can afford. 💶
At worst he will say “no”

If he’s letting people borrow it ,it can’t be his no 1 shaft.
He has tons of drivers lol, he's just ordered a new Ping as well. I think it would otherwise be sat in his car!

Yes just don’t offer a stupid amount.
These are real quality shafts and don’t come cheap.

Just ask him straight out.
“ Are you selling it if so how much”
He might surprise you if he’s got loads.

It’s rare to find your perfect shaft so don’t let it go without a fight 😂

I’ve always tinkered, especially with drivers and shafts.
In a quiet hour this morning I used the digital kitchen scales, tape measure and AI to check the swing weights of my usual set-ups.

These are the results:
1. TM Stealth 2 with stock shaft = C8
2. TM Stealth 2 with Tensei shaft = D0
3. Ping G400Max with stock shaft = D4.5
4. Ping G400Max with steel shaft = D9

AI assessed them as follows…
Your Driver Spectrum
You now have the full range of feels to choose from:
• The "Feather": C7.7 (330g total)
• The "Standard/Neutral": C9.7/D0 (330g total)
• The "Heavy Pro": D4.4 (330g total - G400 Max)
• The "Sledgehammer": D9.3 (390g total)

Which of these feels best when you actually pull the trigger? Most people find their "Goldilocks" zone is only about 2-3 swing weight points wide. Jumping from C7 to D9 is like switching sports!

😂😂😂

I’ve been mostly using #3 for the last couple of years with the odd few weeks on #4 when the swing was getting wild and it has worked well.
Because it was cold and wet yesterday and we had to carry I took #1 out. Predictably it was disastrous; like swinging a pencil.
I’ll be on #2 tomorrow, looking for a happy medium that doesn’t exhaust me.

I checked my usual iron set too. They were all over the place from C8 to D5 and not necessarily in the order you’d hope.

I've no idea what my swingweights are, or what any of it means.

If I Google the specs of the G430 SFT driver, it says the standard swingweight is C9, but with my Hzrdus shaft, it's "1 point higher than standard" - whatever that takes it to. C10? D0?

My 3 wood is apparently D0. 7 wood is D1.
My irons are supposed to be D2 and so is the matching 5 hybrid.

That all seems to be in order... maybe?

If I cut 1 inch off my driver shaft, but replace the 50 gram grip with a 25 gram grip, what happens to the D0 swing weight?
