I ditched the 5 & 4 Iron last year for hybrids. I find that a bad strike with the hybrid is much better than a bad 4 iron for example.

I know people often say this, but I do wonder what sort of swing you need to have for that to be the case. I have never hit a hybrid that didn't fade for me.

I guess its do with either setting up like its an iron then swinging like its a wood or vice versa.

I’m the same I cannot hit a 3 or 4 hybrid as they often look so closed and everything either starts straight and ends up left or starts left and goes even further left. If I set up to allow for it I then hook the
out of it

You should carry a 1-9 iron , wedge, sand wedge, putter, driver and three wood .

I'm not sure which I do, I'm not sure there's a huge distinction between my wood and iron swing to be honest.
I think I hit it closer to how I hit a wood.nickjdavis

I sympathise with the OP.....although not fully finalised, it looks like my bag will be 1,3,5,7 and 9 woods, 6 hybrid and then 7iron to AW with a couple of specialist wedges to finish off.
