The Sopranos

Just off kilter slightly. I'm staying away all week with work, are there any kinda small one off tv series which anyone can recommend?
Don't want to get stuck right into one of the 5 series type shows just something short and sweet.
Besides the missus would kill me if I watched The Sopranos without her

The Following was excellent. Only 2 seasons aswell so not too long.
I was disappointed with Lily Hammer tbh. Van Zandt is good in it,I just got bored with it.
It is strange to see him playing bass for Bruce Springsteen after seeing him play Silv.

The Wire was OK, not a patch on The Shield imo

Loved the shield. Great build up through every season abd for once the final episodes really delivered

After the sopranos it is absolutely faultless.

the sopranos will always be the best thing I have ever experienced on screen.

The Wire matches it all the way.

Some of the best characters ever and as dark, funny, heart reaching and brutal as our those friend of our from New Jersey.

Honestly it is sublime.

The Sopranos was very good, as was breaking bad. Boardwalk empire is another must watch and sons of anarchy is worth checking out. One of my favourites was Romanzo Criminale though, very very good imho, thoroughly enjoyed that series.

To the guy that was looking for a short series while away. I know you found one, but if away again and fancy something short and sweet I recommend Broadchurch. It's nowhere near the same level as some of the shows discussed, but kept my interest for it's few episodes.

To be honest the missus is the one with the finger on the pulse for new dramas so we usually end up watching those. The one about the getaway driver from Manc wasn't too bad.

Luther is also well worth a watch. Not as big a budget as some of these shows but very enjoyable.

We packed in watching after the first few episodes of series 2, kinda got a bit stale IMO.

Sopranos was the best. The Wire a close second.

We also really enjoyed Deadwood. Fantastic series. So was Firefly.

Breaking Bad is good but it doesn't keep me hooked. We often watch an episode then wait weeks before the next.

Good shout of Firefly, if ever a series deserved to be brought back for another shot then that is it. At least they got to Serenity as a bit of a farewell.

Maybe if you watched a bit more and given it a proper chance you'd have found out.

If you dont give anything a proper chance you might not know what you've missed, same for anything you'll gather an opinion on whether its telly, sport, hotels, restaurants etc.

And I beg to differ on breaking bad, you're definitely in the minority if it's not for you BUT hey you know best as always.
