The Second Lancaster

We get the BoB flypast every year down here for the Bournemouth air show, be great if both Lancs were to come down. The Vulcan is due again this year too.

The Vulcan is a truly amazing plane - such a thing of beauty and power never to be rivalled

Being in one of those was a joy.

Remember the Flowerdown Fayre at RAF Locking - you could see it coming across the hills but it would be silence until it roared over the beer tent !! What a sight it is

I recall in the 1970s a Lancaster was found in Canada being used as a water bomber and it was bought for the now defunct collection at Strathallan near Gleneagles. It flew in from Canada and landed on the grass strip. It was the only privately owned Lancaster in the UK. I wonder what ever happened to it.

Found it on Google... http://www.secretscotland.org.uk/index.php/Secrets/StrathallanMuseum

I think that's going to be the best day of the whole tour, I hope they get just Jane in the air next year they are doing a brilliant job at East Kirkby.

I hope so but the itinerary for that day is hefty, they are in Prestwick at mid day, then fly to Portrush then Windermere then holmfirth then over cleethorpes then to East Kirkby. The event is sold out with a max of 5,000 people......... And I too hope they get it to fly again.

Lancaster, hurricane and spitfire together. What a sight and sound.

unfortunately one of our holes at Norwood is named "Lancaster" in memory of a Lancaster Which crashed onto the course during WW2 whilst on a night time training flight. All on board were killed with crew from Canada Britain and Australia. There is a memorial about thirty yards away from the green of the Lancaster hole.

It has completed it first leg after a delay - landed at Goose bay safely.

Ground crew there currently giving it the royal treatment - my mate has posted a number of pics on Facebook

Watched the Canadian lanc last night over our 18th as I did 9 holes as it was out on its own, then today they both screamed down over the car park in woodhall then turned and straight over the 18th. What a sight.

Got a few pics but the iPhone is rubbish.

I hope we get to see it down here in Kent. My work is half a mile from the BoB monument in Folkestone and a friend of mine runs the BoB museum on the old Hawkinge airdrome, he has an encyclopaedic knowledge of everything Battle of Britain and an OBE for charitable work running the museum

Mildly amused watching a news clip of the pair flying together with one of the 'experts' mentioning they can be difficult planes to fly in formation... Wonder if this was ever mentioned or thought of ahead of the mass air raids of WW2...

Probably not. Why make the air crews life any easier. After all they've only got extreme temps, flak and fighters to deal with there and back.
