(Couldn’t find the last thread, if/when I do, I’ll merge them.)

Glad to see it’s finally broken and we have a proper manager in place. Billy should have never been fired and although it’s taken a Chelsea-amount of managers to “find” the right bloke, I’m glad to see him back. 5 wins out of 5 speaks for itself quite frankly and he’s got our midfielders scoring goals for fun again (Radi Majewski please stand up).

Ee-I-ee-i-ee-i-oh up the football league we go etc..etc..
:whoo:

Good to see Forest on the up again. However wait and see when they lose and draw a few games and gauge reaction from the kuwaities then. I have lost count of the managers they have had recently.

I don't think they'll be as knee jerk as they have been. Their issue with SOD was that there was no consistency, so even though we were in the top 10 and a few points off the playoff places, we'd not won two games in a row all season...With the amount they'd spent in the summer, I think they'd expected more consistency than that (can't blame them, although I thought the SOD sacking was ludicrous. I was there for the 4-2 victory against Leeds on boxing day and they played better than I'd seen in a long time)...

With 5 wins in a row I think (hope) they're realistic enough to realise that no team is invincible and there will be draws/losses. We shall see. Hope Billy can make it third time lucky in the playoffs!

Great to see the Forest playing like a team again. It amazes me that with the same players different managers can get so much more out of them. Looking forward to the rest of the season now.

In regards to promotion , I think if we got it this season , the next season would be a case of just trying to survive, then see what happens.

What happens if they go up then is the finance their to go into the squad or will it simply be a case of 4th bottom is a success like many promoted teams?

Depends how much money they actually have to invest. I think another year in the Championship would serve us well, but wouldn't be unhappy if we went up this season. Invest in some mid-level talent to keep us up, then build from there. As Midnight says, 4th bottom would be a success the first season, but I think beyond that, providing the money is invested, they want "proper" premier league success (Europe etc).

One thing Forest still has going for it, through all it's turbulent times, is that the Academy is still one of the best this country has to offer, so we're still churning out and developing players that become successful which may help long term.

Always rated Billy Davies.
It is interesting how a new manager can come in and suddenly the same players start playing much better.
Look at Bristol City and Derek McInnes. Does that make the departing manager good, poor or unlucky.

Look back over the Scotland manager thread and this thread here is proof why I wanted Billy Davies as the Scotland boss.

Rate him very highly.

Perhaps the players need to look at themselves as well. There have been a lot of managers that have gone into a new club, results suddenly improve, and then drop off again after the honeymoon period ends. Judge Billy Davies at the end of the season.

I agree somewhat, but this doesn't ring true with Forest. Alex McLeish came in and managed to do absolutely naff all. The Honeymoon period was a freefall down the league table! Billy knows how to play players to get the best out of them. Radi Majewski is an excellent case in point - Was a scoring/assisting machine when Billy was here the last time. Billy leaves and his name is barely mentioned (despite decent playing time), Billy comes back and he's scoring goals again.

Davies seems obsessed and meticulous with what he does, this video is a great insight into life at the club under Billy:

I'm sure other managers are the same, but not sure I can picture Sir Alex sitting in an editing suite for 8 hours on a Sunday! It would take away from his red wine time!

Did you really expect anything more than 'naff all' from Alex McLeish ?

just think where you could of been now had Billy been given another year and a few quid?

Indeed. The problem was, when he was here in his first stint he fell out massively with Nigel Doughty who was Chairman at the time (and sadly passed away last year), because Billy wasn't given complete control of the transfers. There was a "transfer committee" which had to approve any signings (which is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard). The club had big ambition and wanted to be in the premier league, but Billy wasn't allowed to do what he wanted to do. He should have never been fired. now he has some cash to spend and is allowed to do things his way and it's paying dividends.

how ironic will it be if the current superb run continues and the promised land is reached this season.......

Indeed. I expect us to lose some of our remaining games, but they've put themselves right back in the playoff mix. If the superb run *does* miraculously continue and we go up automatically I'd be elated! :D

What's sad though is that Doughty, for all his faults was the biggest fan of the club, so it'd be a shame if we do go up, that he wasn't around to see it. He's the reason we are even in the position we are in now anyway. He bought us back from the brink of relegation to league 2 a few years ago.
