The realistic 245 club

On my day I hit a pretty long drive, I would think it's the best part of my game. I have actualy never measured one but if I do spank one my mate and I usually just gasp, look how far I am from the green and then minus that from the hole length and then duff the chip. I enjoy driving the ball and like the ego rush when it all works right. The reality check is not actualy the facts and figures, it's that I have friends that hit there 3 wood as far. :o

I'm in.

Best ever was 260 - August - baked Essex clay, caught the downslope and kept going.

Otherwise - the carry over the lake on 18th at Hanbury is a result.

this is my kind of club alan ,you saw how far i hit it on the trackman so i'll fit right in here, should be called the girls room :)

Yes, apparently we 'hit it like girls'......

Perhaps I should paint my shaft pink??? :D

I think Bubba might be a tad upset at your comment!

I hit my 3 wood an average of 240 yards at the moment. When I finally get a driver would I be looking at about 270? If so that would be awesome as I could take on par 5s in two! :D
Haha!

I'm hoping I havnt laughed inapropriately?
If I have I do apologise!

I give up :(

Think you picked the wrong thread for that one, Tiger! :D

Seriously though, Tiger's not known for BS on here, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's pretty accurate.

3rd hole (par 5) at Forest Pines last year.
Pretty tight driving hole favoured a draw.
Hit the best 5 wood I have ever hit, 285 yards.
Best shot I hit all week-end.
Followed it up with another 5 wood straight into a ditch and walked off with a 7
:D

Measured a drive at the weekend at 275 yds, it finished in the thick rough so had it been on the fairway may have been a bit more. Although to be honest I would rather drive 230-250 and be straight the 270+ in the rough.

I measured a few at Hanbury Manor on Tuesday out of curiosity. The 5th hole into a stroooong wind with all carry was measured at 265 which I was over the moon with. The drives that I measured were about 250-280. I would say on a given day of a calm flat hole I would get it out at about 250-260 carry. Probably would average about 230 including my necked and toed efforts that appear a couple of times per round.

I'd guess I'm around 240-250 with a few longer to offset the bad ones.

I'm going to try to remember to measure some on Saturday but no doubt I'll forget.

I'm off at 6:30am so I won't be awake until I've finished! :o

you might even be shorter than your 3-wood. there are no guarantees that you'll find as good a combination

when I first got the SC I measured a few, then I just measured the good ones, now I hardly bother. Anyway they were all carry + roll. How on earth do you measure carry alone - I can't spot where it lands.

In the main, at Hanbury, they were 'long enough' and mostly in the right place.

Our 2nd hole is 248 yards off the Medal tee, a Par 4 on the card, but in effect a Par 3 due to SSS being 1 below Par. It's only 248 yards, with tee and green on roughly the same level. I can count on one hand the number of times I've driven the green in competition.

Why ? well it is ALL carry. All the way from the tee to the green.

Ask J_F, he fell short with one of his sunday best drives ;)

So even if I did carry it 245, I'd still be short

I got a Shotmiser GPS for Xmas - lets you put in you expected drive length. Under influence of a few G&T's I put in 240 yards.

I have had to .....errrm ....trim it back a bit - lol

I did make a par 4 green - 270 yards off the tee - a few weeks back. Back wind like hurricane Katrina - does that make me a bad person - please forgive :D :D

Best i've hit (and was witnessed by Vig) was on the 12th at Mid Yorkshire in 2009, and measured on GPS at 292yds.

I average now around the 240-250yds mark.
I remember that one, I was 4 paces back with my 3 iron ;)

13th is 282 from yellows, i've hit the green 5 times, NEVER with the driver. I can however hit the 14th tee with great regularity, i'll measure it next time out

A but thats only if you cut the corner!
Ive run out to the edge of the water on this one.
Oh to have a carry of over 200 yds.
