The Open Day 2

I bet Westwood is frustrated. He's missed about 5 birdie chances (and at least one eagle chance) by a gnat's hair! Slow and steady wins the race though, eh?

Great golf by Louis though. Hope the late-teeing Brits can make a surge as well.

Can't really blame them though. It's one thing to play in strong winds, but when the balls are being shuffled around on the greens, well that's just not cricket, is it.

It's not cricket right enough. :)

Correct Tommo bunch of fannies thats just a light breeze for up here, and another thing what about that dobber Poulter on his phone thought they were banned ,one rule for them eh pfft.

Because I'm lazy, I'm just going to take this quote from the Beeb Live text:

"...it's not that the pros can't cope, this is a professional tournament and you have to count each shot. Its not a game with your mates that you get on with whatever the conditions. The players are doing what they are told."

And I believe Poults was back in the Hotel conservatory before using his phone. Pretty sure that the rules ban them from phone use whilst enjoying afternoon Tea in the Old Course Hotel :D

Dont think he was mate he was on the course in the gorse if thats the hotel then i wouldnt want to stay there. :D

the whole rule about the ball moving and being penalised by it needs a good looking at... apart from being a stupid rule anyway, it's going to push the length of time for a round over 5 hours easy... it's no good. how can they decide that it's ok if the ball moved if you've not grounded your club, but if you have you get penalised for it?

re dic u lous

Ah! I've not seen any TV coverage, so I'm just going off his Twitter posts :D

what a difference a day makes, from target golf to sheer survival...brilliant.
Oosthuizen has been lucky with the draw but he has still played excellently. He's never made the cut in a Major before but has to have a good chance of winning from here!

So is it the luck of the draw or the golfers ability?

To me yesterday showed that on this course on this type of day it's the luck of the draw ......... can't be right for a major competition ...........

What do you suggest then??

2015 Open @ The ST Andrews Golf Dome, the first "indoor" major?? :D

they're saying Osterwhitsit had good draw, but in fact he played several holes in heavy rain and still made birdies - a bit luckier to get blown back home, but can't say he had ideal conditions. Played brilliantly.

Also quite funny that Mickelson clearly thought he'd had it rough in missing the suspension. Probably laughed for real when he saw how the later players fared.
Also big hats off to those who kept their heads - McDowell, Glover, adn to aosme extent Westie. Agree he was not on fire but could be saving himelf ..?

If I'm honest I don't know ...... perhaps they can use portable wind & rain machines ......

I just feel that for such a major competition it should be down to the skill of the golfer and not the luck of the draw.
