The golfing gods..............

I agree with everyone who has mentioned the things relating to golfing etiquette , slow play, repairing pitchmarks and replacing divots.

Quite simply I wouldnt change anything else .... What would the game be without the debates, the controversy, the highs and the lows.....

1) Anything that disturbs the peace and quiet on the course. Loud groups, mobile phones etc. I go to relax and get away from it all and although I enjoy a bit of banter there is nothing worse than a group who shout at each other from either side of the fairway. There is plenty of time to talk (not shout) and the tees and greens

2) Golf Snobs - Although I appreciate the etiquette involved in golf, I think some people take things too far. Also the idea that the old guys rule the roost and new members and women are mere annoyances that turn up and ruin the rules of old should be wiped out and these old guys used to fill divots. Also, they should take note of what golf clubs say you cant where rather than what they think you should. My short sleeved wind breaker hiding a football team polo-shirt is fine as long as I dont take my wind shirt off as all you see is the collar

3) Ad-hoc course maintenance. I'm not talking about cutting the grass, I'm talking about not advertising the fact that you are going to aerate and scarify the greens and putting half of the course on temp greens. I turned last wednesday to find the front nine was on temps which were just holes put in the end of the fairway. ruined my day

Dam, only 3 choices........

I would ban

1. Average courses charging £40 a round. Why is it that most clubs assume that a round on their course is worth £40, it is not. Most clubs are worth no more than £20 a round.

2. Belly Putters, as many have said, anchoring a club is just wrong.

3. GOlf club joining fees, there will never be a free and open market where the better clubs thrive and fees are based on competition until golfers are free to vote with their feet. How many golfers do you know who would like to change clubs but has just paid off their joining fee or cannot afford the fee at a new club.

From the professional game... A ban on belly/long putters...

From 'club' golf... Ban those from the course that demand to be let thru' even though they have nowhere to go...

Two shot penalty for anyone who expresses, on the forum, the opinion that relaxing 'the dress code' will cure golfs 'ills'...
