Didn't most of us agree it's better to play well and score poorly than play like a broken record and make ya handicap.

Truth be known, I would rather play superbly and lose than play badly and win.
What other game can you say that about?

So true, Ive been there, done that, got docked a stroke, but was still happy at the performance alone.

I enjoy the game and the social side. Luckily for me, at mine, the members seem the same in the clubhouse as on the course.
Sadly, I've not found this at all courses.
I was "invited" to join the "other" club in my town and turned it down because I know of the kind of ego-massaging and general self-important bulls*** that goes on.

I enjoy the "equality" around my club.....I don't think this is an accident since nearly all the committee members are all modest and keep the balance right.
One particular member insisted on parking in a non-existent place next the pro shop, it only took one or two comments to the committee to sort him out!
