After spending some time with my GM glossy mag, I am now more confused than ever about swings, know three more rules, and have a bunch of courses I'd love to visit (did you see the one in idaho with the green in the middle of the lake?).

Then I did my usual count of the photos and articles about us ladies, there are 4 this month. That's 4 more than last month.

There are more of us in here!

Can we not come on one of these fitting days? or a day out learning rules? We promise not to wear too much pink!
:fore:

oh, and amanda's flapjacks were mentioned!

Hi Heidi, the mags are very tempting, every time i see GM etc i am tempted to buy it

I then have a quick flick through it in the shop and its the same old stuff every month

Alot of tips that can wreck your game if you do not follow them etc

I still like to buy when travelling overseas but apart from that they are too expensive, too much advertising too many course guides and too many holiday articles and the reviews are very poor in my opnion

Trust me mr wolf, there are worse mags. I got a sub to Lady Golfer one year for christmas, now that was dire! and there were NO MEN in it! no eye candy at all!

I had read / purchased many too but stopped buying as they were not helping me at all and i hated all the ads, even the new gear ads as i felt the reviews were not accurate to the average golfer.

How long have you been playing golf ?

Wolfie

4 years, truly addicted!:D
My bag is full of clubs, own about 5 pairs of shoes, know which balls I like and I have all the gear I need, so tend to ignore the ads.

But I'm a sucker for a tip or 20 on how to improve something or other!

You do realise this a forum for the magazine that you obviously loathe so much ?

Thats why you come on here like i do for the advice tips and good banter !

I have been playing for 5 years and struggled badly for 3 to 4 years !

Had several lessons and still struggled and have given up sold up and then started again

Things getting better now as i have studied and found out what you need to do to improve and where to improve.

I wish i had started playing when i was younger ( now 51 ) as i am sure it is easier in your teens etc

My wife had a go ( took her to the range etc ) but having two young children it didnt work out as she had little time to practice. As we all know golf needs plenty of practice to get it right.

Must admit i am fascinated how much golf takes over your life

Oh dear! Me thinks you are going to be sorely disappointed with this lot on here then! :smirk:

I enjoy the mag, tend not to read the tips articles much as there is enough junk running around in my head when stood over the ball as it is.

Generally I think the balance is about right overall though, I am sure there are plenty who enjoy the tips, course reviews, equipment etc etc

Hi Richart, not knocking just GM but all golf mags !!

I dont loathe any of them just feel the content is out of balance to the adverts and price

Do you buy GM monthly ?

Tee hee, so true! Not met many real 'eye candies' on the golf course, but I have met some super personalities! :D

I do as it has a lot of interesting articles, rather than being full of reviews and teaching tips like other golf magazines. But a copy, sit down, and read it cover to cover, I am sure you will find it a good read for the money. I personally love the reviews of courses I have never played, it just makes me want to get out and play.

If you subscribe for a year you will often get a good deal, free golf balls, or big reductions off the monthly shelf prices, or both ! Rich

I agree that there is a definite lack of female content in GM and has been that way for a long time. I don't know if its editorial policy, lack of request for articles from females (mail Mike and ask) or because sadly the ladies tour here and in the US really doesn't get much airtime or promotion and so no-one is aware of just how good many of these players are.
