I think my driver knows it's days are numbered. After being my most inconsistent club in my bag and also one of the oldest I'm looking at replacing it with hopefully a callaway ft-9. So what happens today, I boom so many drives it's unbeleiveable, most of them were even pretty straight, especially on my first hole where I scored my first par on the hole ever. A couple of holes of bad hit irons costing me good scores. Onto my nemesis hole 8th par 5. Boom. longest drive I've ever hit bang in the middle of the fairway. Walked away with bogey after coming slightly short with 3rd shot and my putting finishing a couple of inches from the hole. I only hit a couple of bad tee shots with the big dog today and hit more fairways than Ive ever done before! Came away a happy chappie overall putting was also spot, just the irons keg me down today although over the last few rounds they have been improving and getting me scores even though the driver was all over the place.

So the big dog may get a reprieve after all time will tell!!
Thanks for listening I'm just well chuffed with myself today and thanks to bobs v easy the putting for dough is starting to kick in too!!

Your driver is cleverer than mine, I have been threatening it and this week I took a G20 out on the course. Even after that it hasn't taken the hint and turned back into the wonder club it used to be :)

Still the g20 was just as naughty, surely it cant be me :D

You've just made the most important discovery in golf.
It's not the bow and arrow, it's the indian :)

A good tradesman always blames his tools! If you have all the latest most expensive equipment there's no reason why you couldn't play off +5.

New shiny things help to improve your game don't they?

Of course they do....until you get them home from the shop :)
Unless of course your old clubs are soooo old and out of date and the wrong grip/head/shaft for you.

One of the reasons for me changing was to increase my loft from 10 to 11 as I struggle to get height most of the time with the big dog. Although I thought I had ballooned the monster in the 8th until it came down and it was into the wind which didn't help!

Well played

Nothing wrong with that Hippo driver - its quite a good little club

i've got in the Garage a Hippo mallet putter that cost me a £40 voucher from AG about 7 or 8 years ago - it's a really well made club and very well balanced. To be honest i really dont know why it's not in my bag more often . But it stays in the garage and i go out there every so often and have a putt with it. And if if ever get into a bit of a rut putting wise, i swap it into the bag because it is so difderent from my normal putter that it seems to help.

So maybe, if you get a new driver, keep the Hippo in the garage and bring it out once in a while :)

I will def keep it, it's not worth anything as a trade in etc! It cost me £40 on eBay from a bloke about half a mile down the road! I bought it as I tried out the callaway ft-I when it was first launched bought couldn't afford the £350, still can't!! Tried the hippo as it had good reviews and actually hit it better, until after a couple of rounds! So just shows it's not all about the big brand names if it works for you!

I have an old TPS tour 12* driver. The head is smaaall about the size of a 7wood today. But it goes right down the middle. I just cant get on with a lot of the big headed drivers.

Well this afternoon I became the proud owner of a ft-9 imix 11 degree draw! Spotted it on eBay and got it for £50, atleast if I don't like it I can move it on! Let you know how we get on in the week!

My driver is erratic at the best of times but after its performance at Caversham yesterday and in the greensomes today we are currently the best of buddies. There isn't anything out there with the exception of the G20 that really captures my eye on the driver front

I haven't used my driver for the last 3 weeks, even before that I wasn't using it all that often.

As Bob said above, there's nothing wrong with the bat, it's the gobshite holding it.

Oh it knows! Popped up for 9 holes this afternoon. Played the back 9 for a change as this is where I normally struggle as it's longer and straighter. Every single drive went boom. Now they were not all straight, most were though and only one was a bit wild to the right luckily the hole bends that way and so was only in the first cut!

Now Im stuck as new driver arrives this week!!

My short game was also vastly improved, just need to sort the irons out and I'm laughing!
