The De Vere Club

I'm a member of the DeVere "Club". My home course is Wokefield Park and at the start of the year, I purchased 100 points for £295 and was given 20 additional points as a bonus. I also paid £29 fees to be registered for a handicap, which is official and allows me to play in comps etc.

Depending on when you play it determines how many points it is. Saturday morning for example is more costly than a midweek twilight. At Wokefield a Saturday peak time is 8 points for the round, so this equates to approximately £20 for the round. A twilight is 3 points, so that's about £7, which is pretty good value.

If I want to, I can play and use my points at any other DeVere venue (including the Brabazon) and each course has slightly different points cost to play. Brabazon weekend is something like 36 points, or roughly £90.

You also get a few additional fringe benefits such as discount in the bar, discount on nights booked, and access to leisure facilities at a reduced rate etc.

For me it is perfect. I don't get to play very often and this is extremely flexible as it offers me full club benefits, i.e. comps etc without the higher cost of a 7 day membership. Cheapest near me is about £750 for the year.

The course at WP is in great condition at the moment as well, which helps.

The downside is it can be busy in the summer with hotel guests and this can affect the speed of play, but I'm not one of these people that gets worked up because they're not done in 3 hours.
Good honest review that. Good value if you have a course local and want to do twilight. Points for a weekend seem fair as you would imagine it to be the busiest time. £29 extra for getting a handicap is a little steep but I suppose that's a club membership as opposed to the de vere golf membership.

i'm a member of the de vere club. it works for me becauese I am a member somewhere else too.

basically you buy 100 points, each round you play is worth a certain amount of points which then get deducted from your allocation,

The PGA is 9 points (summer m-f) 11 pts at weekends twilights m-f for just 6 points or 7 pts for a tee time at weekend twilight rates.

Each point now equates to £3.25, so work out it is worthwhile.

The other week I played Staverton Park for only 3 pts, so imo a good deal.

The only De Vere courses with restrictions are the Brabazon and the Carrick, to play these I understand you need to purchase a block of 200pts, but the Brabazon is still 25 pts in the week and 30 at weekends

any more questions and i'll do my best to explain what i know about the scheme

Am a member and would concur with what the others say.

Am in Manchester so there's 6 DeVere courses within an hours drive. For me is more an opportunity to play some 'better' courses on top of club games.

You need to weigh up what you want it for, how many DeVere's you have access to etc. I joined with a few friends so it gets us a few days out at weekends without paying premium $ for it....

Other plus points;

If you work your discount out on rooms you can get a weekend away very cheap and play some golf.
Can use points to get wife Spa Treatments.

One Contradiction;

There's no minimum point requirement for the Carrick (played on holiday @ Easter / midweek / sun rising over Ben Lomond - worth £295 on its own :) ).

if your going you join and make the belfry your home club aask to speak with marc, he will advise you of the offers avaliable, and if you menton me i get some free points which could be used by having a knock together on the PGA.

check you private messages

You will love the PGA mate its a great course and nearly as good as the Brabazon in my opinion :thup:

The Derby is fun as well and will probably cost very little points on the De Vere system.

Good luck :thup:
