A friend of mine is currently playing Buddy Holly in the musical Buddy that is touring at the moment.

it used to be fun trying to work out all the references in American Pie.

'cause the players tried to take the field, the marching band refused to yield
do you recall what was revealed the day, the music died?

madonna performed only half the song

Musicians, singers and pop stars don't have much luck when it comes to flying, I think Glen Miller started the bad luck, Patsy Cline, John Denver, plus the ones mentioned above. Any more to add to the list of pop off airways.

True Love Ways - what a beautiful little song. And The Buddy Holly Story is one of my fave films and always brings a tear to my eye - lump to my throat (what a soppy old git I can be at times)

Was a a reference by McLean that he was a Paperboy on the day of the crash and read about it when he opened a paper from his bag?

Lynyrd Skynyrd lost a few of their band in a plane crash.

Stevie Ray Vaughan (best bluesy guitarist in the last 30 years apart from Derek Trucks)

I was worried there for a minute, thinking someone was using your handle to give us bad news Roger.

Good to hear you are still with us old timer.;)

I know and understand what the song is about however, I cannot forgive it for having some of the most nonsensical lyrics in any song eg. What the chuff is a lonely teenage bronking buck?
