The commercial value of female golfers.

I like watching ladies golf, because apart from anything else, I can almost relate to the game they play, whereas Rory and Bubba and Co are way out of my league. Also, most of the lady golfers have lovely rythmical swings; you can learn a lot from watching them.

This.

As amateurs we are better off trying to emulate the ladies tempo and swing rather than that of Rory or Jason Day.
Watching the Ladies golf shows me time after time that I don't have to smash the hell out of the ball.

These 'personalities' are a product to be sold to generate the maximum revenue for the tribe surrounding them. The fact that they may have started in the sport of golf is purely incidental.

Coaches, managers etc. etc all need paying and so they employ promotors whose interest is purely exploitation leverage/generate cash. Taste, morality and other elements just get in the way. Any notoriety just helps with the marketing and female attractiveness is just one helpful 'asset' (or two!).

An excellent example is the ex-bimbo Jordan, Now as Katie Price she has exploited/capitalised on her inflated assets and pin-up fame to the extent that she's almost become respectable in the eyes of the media. She's certainly not a mug.

Jordan isn't a sport star trying to create a sporting career though - it's different tbh

That is a rather unfair comparison! Carly Booth is a rather fit and athletic professional golfer and definitely not a bimbo with false boobs!

yep I reckon most blokes would learn more from watching the doris' but I reckon most wouldn't bother paying to watch them. If sky had blokes golf on one channel at 20 quid a month and Doris golf on another channel at 20 quid a month who would bother paying for both? I probably would only pay for the bloke golf

Sorry to disappoint you but i actually watch it for the golf as opposed to perv over the ladies.

The ladies game isnt about looks and it shouldnt be - it should be about their abilities as golfers

Absolutely spot on.
But it does help if they have a gorgeous pair of pins, are wearing a short skirt or tight shorts and have a decent pair of bugalugs.

Such and amusing thread!

Many professional sports figures will model or pin up on the side, why should women golfers be any different if the demand is there.

I do wonder if the same women who moan about the lady pin up/models with professional sport or don't own or have never owned a pin up calendar of a male model/sportsman/actor.

Women challenged for equal rights for years, why shouldn't Carly cash in on the same industries that beckham who is deemed a legend has:

professional sport
Professional modelling.

To me it's case closed, get with the bloody times!

The issue is though that right now though is the lady golfers that are getting all the headlines and media attention are the ones who have the looks as opposed to the ones with the talent

More is being shown and said about Paige etc because of how they look as opposed to young Lydia Ko once again winning

So Ladies Golf is being more about how someone looks as opposed to how well they actually play the game

Right now more people seem to care about how short Carly's skirt is as opposed to Sorenstam getting the Solheim Cup Captiancy.

Ladies golf is going to struggle if the focus is purely about how they look as opposed to how well they play the game

As if to illustrate, today's top news story for 'womens golf' on google is all about someone called Caitlyn Jenner who used to be called Bruce Jenner & had gender transition surgery and will compete in a womens golf pro-am, complete with a quote that their new fake boobs helps with putting

"And to be honest, the breasts are really good for putting. I used to put a sock under my arm to help keep my arms straight, but now I don't have to do that any more because I can hold my arms against my breasts, so it's perfect."

Couple of light-hearted thoughts:
Is this good publicity for the womens game
What do you do with the sock now
Del, the answer to your putting woes is not a bigger hole

Much preferable to them being stuffed down their waistband to help keep their skort up.

I followed Carly Booth for a few holes at The European Masters tournament at The Buckinghamshire last year. She was wearing such a short skirt that I couldn't help noticing that she has a small tattoo just below her left buttock. I didn't get close enough to read what it said though! :mmm:

Yes... looking forward the the first LPGA major this weekend.....I enjoy watching it because I feel it has more relevance to my game than the men's...similar distances etc...although some of them can still give it a good ride and out drive me by 30 yards....and its also pleasing on the eye.....;)

I'm not going to complain is any attractive woman wants to pose around in their undies, if they happen to be a golfer I couldn't care less. Let them make their money... I'm happy to be an observer.

In which case the doris' need to improve their product so that their golf is getting the headlines rather than their legs. If that's what they want.

OK, enough, I'm officially calling this as 'very creepy' now.

I was just curious about why she should have a tattoo there, as presumably she wouldn't be able to see it herself without a mirror. I didn't think it was necessary to wear quite such a short skirt, because she is an attractive girl who would still look good wearing a sack. She wears just about the most bling on the LET btw. I actually just wanted to watch her golf, honestly!

Mmmm - your posting history would suggest otherwise

Still creepy.
