The commercial value of female golfers.

None of whom are quite at the top level at the moment!

Ok add in Thompson , Kerr , Ko, Korda - the list is endless. And of course those golfers mentioned are at the top level !! - all in the top 50.

I would understand your comments if it was an April Fool but the scarey part is I think you are being serious

World No 2 Inbee Park is not one of the best looking girls on the circuit, but might be if she lost a bit of weight. However, would this affect her golfing ability? Carly Booth was a pretty good golfer as a very slightly podgy teenager, but seems to have gone downhill ever since hitting the gym to get a perfect female body. I believe that Laura Davies once lost a lot of weight and experienced a dip in form as a result. So looks versus ability might be a bit of an issue for lady golfers!

Still creepy

Also, what drives the commercial value? The Ladies prize fund for their 1st major is $2.6m; the Masters has a prize fund of $10m. Doing our best to ignore any sexist remarks, it's clear the mens game has a higher commercial value, with the men (lower ranking) generally not have to take part in commercial ventures to supplement their income; the ladies (lower ranking) on the other hand are probably tempted to supplement their lower earnings - eg Booths golf earnings on the LET in total amount to £4,761.59 this year. Ernie Else finished 74th at Bay Hill and picked up $12,285. So, is the argument (like tennis) that there should be earnings parity to remove the need for external commercial opportunities?

Incidentally, the USA (world cup winning!) Womens team are currently taking a legal case because they felt their monies was insufficient was too little in comparison to the men who reached the last 16. However, I think some (not all) of them enjoy huge commercial benefits as well.

The men do have to take part in commercial ventures - just witness the number of golf equipment ads on TV and note the players taking part - no one if so good they don't have to do it. Add into that Corporate days they will have to do for their sponsors.

It's just that no one expects the men to get their kit off.

OK, Lexi Thompson is leading the ANA Inspiration tournament (1st Ladies major of the year) after two rounds. Lydia Ko and Charley Hull are well up the leader board. :)

Maybe I need a hormone injection. I just don't see what looks and gender have to do with whether or not I'd go and watch someone play. Maybe people operate on different levels over different things, but I just don't get it.

Thanks, Hobbit. Exactly.

If anyone wants to see babes and boobs, go and watch Baywatch.

Watch out for the drug testing if you do! By the way, I hope the R&A never test one of our Seniors comps, because most of us are on drugs for some medical condition or another!

You cannot deserve more sponsorship
Sponsors either see sponsorship of what you offer as worthwhile or not, if not you do not get sponsorship, that simple

Individual sponsorship, totally agree. But if a sport or championship receives x amount of sponsorship why can't it be evenly distributed?

it does doesn't it ?

Each championship has its prize fund within golf and that's determined by the sponsership it gains
