i was talking to a mate about the 4 ball offer the carrick are offering tonight but he tells me hes heard nothing but bad reports about the state its in just now .

has anyone played it recently that can say how it was ? :D

yes, I can

Most fairways have had drainage problems over the past 5 years. So over the past year the fairways have had work done to them to reduce the water on them.. This work has now been completed, but the scars of this work are still evident with drainage channels across the fairways. They still have preferred lies on the fairways.

As for the bunkers, very little sand and lots of stones in most of them, except for those bunkers which have now been grassed walled (or whatever you call it). The course itself is not worth the money although, it does have some wonderful views of Loch Lomond and the surrounding countryside.

Played it a couple of months ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Yeah, many fairways had scars for drainage but you'll not get a bad lie. Many bunkers where GUR. It's not half as bad as people say.

If you're interested have a look at the YouTube videos of the course in my signature for a flavour.

How much they asking a fourball? I'd pay about £40 each and not be unhappy. Cracking views and some really lovely holes.

One of my mates was due to play there last week, was sitting in the clubhouse changing into his shoes only for the pro to come in and tell them the greenkeeper had just closed the course because of the rain, not good in July :(
