I played the brab for the first time at the weekend, thanks to Hovis for arranging and Quinn for the company.

It was a bit of a battle in places with the weather and I totally forgot how to play golf on the 10th when I was being filmed for the Signature Hole Challenge (Still bogied).

Anyhoo since finishing with a par on 18 I've had a few people congratulate me for scoring well on a difficult hole. I played it quite easily and didn't think too much of it to be honest. Just a nice draw off the tee to leave 170/180 into the green. Water? what water?

Gotta be honest and say I was disappointed for leaving the 15/20ft birdie putt on the high side.

I'm not a well travelled golfer so don't know what makes a cracking hole. The most memorable for me was the par 5 3rd, with all the danger down the left.

Is the 18th really that great or is it more to do with the Ryder cup history?

A lot of Ryder cup history but still a challenging hole different from yellows too IMO, drive over a decent amount of water to leave 180/200 to green up hill over water is 2 good shots to hit the green. Nice par.

18 is one of about 4 really good holes (and 1 iconic one) there imo - the others are 3, 9 and 17.

Not an incredibly difficult tee shot for someone who can/does Draw the ball, but for we Faders it's a bit of a challenge - how brave are you taking on the first water off the tee. Hole is just the right length to put that doubt in the head. From a good tee shot, a birdie is quite possible which is what makes a good/great Ryder Cup hole - still chances at the end!

Certainly agree that 3 is a great hole! And sufficient risk/reward for RC too!

I really like the 18th on the Brabazon. Like others have said, only a few really stand-out holes there but to add to some already pointed out, think the 6th is a very good, tough hole.

I can only remember the 1st, 10th And 18th. The 1st not because its any good but only because 1st holes seem to last in my memory. The 10th for its fame and likewise the 18th, a good hole to finish especially if you make par.

Take the Ryder cup out of your mind and the Belfry is an ordinary course, but the images in the mind make it seem a bit more special.
