Ha ha. I had to page back to see his post. It is a good price to be fair.

Its hard to beat.. sometimes the 16th has the added difficulty of gypsies parked on the fairway.

How about £135 for three days (shoulder season) unlimited golf at St Andrews - all of the Trust's courses except the Old. Works out at £22.50 per round if you get in 36 holes per day.

(Didn't mention the £85 variation for winter season as I suspect it would be hard to get in 36 per day? Ok, the locals might, cos they seem to go round at a trot.)

I've played some crackers, but the following are the stand outs:

- the Ailsa at Turnberry for £99.
- both the Jubliee and the New at St Andrews free gratis.
- North Berwick for £5.

Royal Cromer, Hunstanton and Sheringham, at £40 a pop is decent value
