Playing here tomorrow for the first time in 15 years. I didn't like it back then but am hopeful that it has matured a bit and is a better course as a result.

The new 6th hole looks interesting.

Has anyone played there recently? Should I expect a good day out do you reckon?

Cheers,

Snelly.

I played it summer 2008, a few weeks before the british masters i think it was. Was in excellent condition and i really enjoyed it.

Played the front 9 with a teaching pro and the rest on my own, my first taste of a tour quality course, i'd definitely go again

GM held a comp' there last year.

I love the course but it's tricky.
The rough is tough to get out of, the greens are quick, everywhere is well looked after, and the signiture holes are great (6,10,18 especially).

Hope you enjoy it.
......and hope you attempt to drive the 10th.

Nice Course but not fantastic by any means some great holes and a few average ones but the Sun is going to be shining so you should have a good trip. The Golf shop there though is something else the largest on Course shop in the whole of Europe I think and it is packed with high quality gear with prices to boot, however if the sale is underway when you go there is bargains galore to be had so have a good trip.

Back after a week working overseas.

I enjoyed the Belfry. Agree about the golf shop - huge.

The course was in magnificent condition and the greens were probably the second best I have ever played on. Quick, true and could hold an approach too. There are several excellent holes on the course now and it has really matured well. That said, the fact that the topography is so flat means it can never be considered a top course in my view. I think inland courses need some hills to really get into the top bracket...

Golfwise, I was level after 10 holes then blew up somewhat but still finished in the points. Standout moments for me were hitting the third with a drive and a five iron and just lipping out for eagle. And on the 18th, I hit a seven iron approach to about four feet. Shame I missed the putt!

On the downside, the pace of play was very slow and this lessened the enjoyment of the back 9. It also was a big factor in my game going off the boil - can't play at that pace. Secondly, the food was pretty poor given the cost of the day.

I enjoyed it though. We are not going back there next year as the fixture is moving to The Grove. I have never played there but have heard good things...
