Rub your tummy and pat your head...

The NEW ball flight laws:
If you want a headache pat your head harder.
If you want a tummy ache rub your tummy more.

The OLD ball flight laws:
If you want a headache rub your tummy more.
If you want a tummy ache pat your head more

The confusion:
If you rub your tummy and pat your head you will have a headache AND a sore tummy using EITHER method, so we think physics hasn't changed

The reason why we need to know the new ball flight laws:
If you want a little bit more of a headache then there's no point in rubbing your tummy more. We understand that now.... we didn't in the past, we thought a headache came from a rubby tummy :D

The only hardship from the new ballflight laws is when you start to COMPARE them to the old ones.... what's the point? Just learn the new ones and stop confusing yourself!! Anyone who argues the old laws or says nothing has changed is clearly not someone you want in charge of the nukes!

Yeah I though some of us might grasp it in 'rubby tummies' :ears:

Seeing as my 7yr old understands the correct ballflight laws!

Brilliant - works for me

I never knew the old laws and am struggling with understanding the new ones but getting there.

The best thing is to stay away from the old laws completely (or any arguements on them) and focus only on what is CORRECT.

If you're driving your car along the road and you want go around a car in front the first thing you do is turn the steering wheel to the right

If you want to hit a draw shot that starts to the right the first thing you need to do is turn the steering wheel to the right i.e THE CLUBFACE.

Being totally pedantic you'd check your mirrors first but I know what you mean!!:ears:
:clap::clap::clap::thup:

Problem is, there are so many existing videos and Pros that still push the old ones, that it is difficult to recognise which is which.

Stick with Justone. He knows the correct ball flight laws and understands them, it was him who got me to understand them. Also it stopped me arguing with him everytime a thread came up on the subject that the old laws are incorrect.......

err... actually one will find that many professional drivers will turn the wheel left first prior to a turn to the right ... ;)

I am a geek, I love things like the ball flight laws. The new ball flight laws are fact, they can be proved and my brain likes things like that.

I believe that golfers looking to get better at golf will benefit from knowing them. They are actualy not that hard to grasp if you don't try to argue with them in your head, but like I said, I'm a geek about things like this so it was fun to learn about them.

However, the first thing I do when I am going to overtake a car is change down.

What about if you didn't know about the old laws and had even less interest if finding out about them......and subsequently couldn't give a toss about the new laws??

Do I need to pat my head or pull my plonker?;)

Same as me Robobum.

I have no idea what the old ball flight laws were or the new ones are. Nor do I care about understanding them either. They are totally irrelevant to me and I am currently playing off a handicap of 2.

Ball flight laws = a) making a simple game more complicated and b) book sales for someone that came up with the gimmick of ball flight laws.

I can drive my car... have been doing so for 20yrs.... doesn't mean that I (or especially learners) shouldn't know the highway code.
