I know this was probably done last week but isn't it great the be able to say we have WON the Ashes in Australia.

A great effort by everyone involved, Cook was awesome, but i would just like to mention Anderson. I said before the series began that I wasn't sure that Anderson would do it on the Australian wickets but he has been fantastic. 213 overs (only Swann bowled more 219) and 24 wickets.

He showed so much promise as a youngster but never really went on to be the player he should have been, but the last couple of years he has improved immensely and can now be classed as a top world class bowler.

Anderson surprised me to be honest.

I thought the two weakest links in the team were Collingwood and Anderson, but Anderson bowled well throughout the series. Still the odd stock delivery (short and wide) a huge improvement.

Superb achievement. And what a great way for Colly to bow out of the test areana rather than being axed next Spring. I am looking forward to catching up with my Aussie cousins on Skype this weekend!!

I thought Anderson was a risk on the Aussie wickets but surely this is the series he came of age. Get him on English wickets in the summer and with his confidence sky high he could cause carnage. I think the other quicks deserve praise too especially Tremlett who came in and looked a natural test bowler. Going to be interesting to see who they pick once Broad is fit.

Good for Colly to bow out on a high too. This wasn't his greatest series but he has been there in the past with some heroic innings at difficult times and has been a superb fielder

Cook was awesome and rarely looked in trouble bar that one hiccup we had where we got stuffed. As for everyone else I think they've all contributed in the series and don't really think there has been a weak link

Well done,England won a prize that only 2 teams can contest although many nationalities can take part.

Bearing in mind this was the worst team in Oz history it is maybe a mystery that the English equivalent of rounders wasn't won 5-0.

Flower and Strauss need to take a huge amount of credit for the way they have gone about this tour. From putting together a backroom staff to sending the front line bowlers off for a rest and the seamless change of personnel due to injury to Broad and to relieve the pressure on a rookie like Finn, all crucial decisions.

It was an great result and too much focus is being put on Australia playing poorly, not England playing well. This is pretty much the same Ozzie team that beat SA in their own back yard a year ago.

I agree but Pietersen said HE was responsible for the turnaround in Englans fortunes. ;) ;)

Haha, I never saw the full interview fot that but he does have a real knack of dropping a clanger though. :D

I bet it was a line taken out of context but that makes for a sh!t story

Great to give the at times arrogant Ozzies a doing but like all sporting contests it makes for better viewing if it's close, doesn't it.

Imagine an England win 3-2 with England needing 20 runs from the last pair on day 5 of the 5th test to win, that's what I'd like.

The 2005 series was so good because it was so close.

Well done England though, nothing better than a sore-losing wingeing Australian.

.... too much focus is being put on Australia playing poorly,

I don't recall the Aussies holding back the celebrations when England were guff. I recall seeing a sign at one test that said

"If the Poms bat first tell the taxi to wait" .....

England beat the Australia team that was put before them. Is it Englands fault that a few legends are now retired and have not been replaced? Not a chance.
