I have arranged a day at "The Addington" Golf Club in Surrey on the above date.
I have reserved 7 tee slots, giving us room for 28 golfers in all.
Day consists of 36 holes with the first tee booked from 8.30am and again at 1.30 with "brunch" in between rounds.
Cost for the day is £50.00 which represents fantastic value for money. We will also be contributing £5.00 each towards a prize fund, which will hopefully include nearest the pin and longest drive competitions.
Although I have 27 names down so far, there are bound to be a couple of players drop out before the day (there always is!) so if you fancy coming along please let me know and I will add you to the list.
Details of the course can be found here...

Take a look at the course gallery photos. It looks a superb track which holds 41st place in the "Great Britain and Ireland top 100 courses"

This is almost one of those "Must Play" courses :). Thoroughly recommended. The only downside is that it's now owned by RN :(

Still very few things in this life are perfect.

Come on guys. Get your names down.

Well done Smiffy (just hope these tired old bones can manage 36)

Have had a fourball drop out, so plenty of spaces available if you wish to come along with a friend or two. I have booked sufficient tee times for 28 players

Please PM me (or post on here) if you require further information

Come on y'all. This will be a day to remember. Well worth a day's holiday.

Apart from RN the owner, the only downside, unless you know the back doubles, is make sure you allow enough time to get there (the outskirts of Croydon can be difficult to negotiate in the morning).

Hi Smitty,
Please put me on the list. The course looks great, sounds like a good golf day. Also is there any other info I need to know about.
Cheers Neil

Hi Neil
I will gladly add you to the list mate. All you need to know is that the first tee is booked from 8.30am and we will be playing 18 holes followed by "brunch" and then another 18 from about 1.30pm.
I have never played the course before, but I understand from other people that it is a bit of a bugger to get to during the rush hour traffic so please take this into account and give yourself plenty of time to get there.
The cost of the day is £50.00 per player, we were going to have a 36 hole Stableford competition and all put £5.00 in the pot for prize money. Maybe 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall with two seperate prizes for best morning and afternoon rounds?
If you have any further questions, please ask away

Hi Neil

Good to see another newby on board for a meet.

Just to reinforce Smiffy's warning. Even if you are familiar with the area and have satnav etc, allow plenty of time (the coffee is good...)

I live about 10 mins away from the course (out of rush hour) but will be allowing an extra 15 minutes - just in case

It's a great course though and for 2 rounds at that price it's worth getting up early for and the drive.

See you there.

Got the 20 now, but if anybody is still interested it's still worth putting your name down as there are still a couple of people who could let me down....

I will have to leave here about 6 in the morning to get there on time. But I'd rather turn up an hour early than tip up with 5 minutes to go, tees and balls falling out of my pockets as I rush to the first tee etc.

Right....

The final line up is hopefully looking like this:

Teeing off times and groups

8.30: SMUFTER/NEIL DAWES/ROY ELSEY/PN WOKINGHAM

8.38: GARETH WILLIAMS/NICK GT/SLAYER/DAVE THE SLICE

8.46: GOLFMADWILLE/ANDY S/LEFTIE/RICHARD SIMS

8.54: NORMAN PORRITT/ANDY MANKELOW/GREG LINDLEY/KHALID SARWAR

9.02 BOB EAGLE/RAY TAYLOR/LEFTIE/HERONSGHYLL

As I say, the only reason that I have put myself out in the first group is so that I can be back at the clubhouse to sort out the scorecards. Also, Neil Dawes and Roy Elsey are members at the new club I have joined so I think it's only fair that I put them in my group?

If we stick to these fourballs initially, if there is sufficient time for the afternoon round, we can "mix it up" a bit if you want to play with somebody in particular. I have tried to keep the forum members together where possible. I hope the above is OK with everybody?

The first tee is booked again from 1.30pm so that gives us 4 hours (theoretically) for the first round with an hours break for lunch. Bearing in mind it will be getting dark by about 6.30 it is hoped that the first groups out in the afternoon are fairly "nippy" to allow the last groups out to finish their rounds!!

As suggested earlier in the thread, I propose that we all put £5.00 in the "kitty" for some sort of prize fund, along the lines of

£30.00 winner, £20.00 second, £10.00 third, with £20.00 being awarded to the nearest the pin and longest drive winners respectively? I have been in touch with the club pro and they suggest holding the nearest the pin on the 11th and the longest drive on the 14th. These two comps will be played for during the afternoon round.

Any further questions or comments please fire away.
