The 45th best player in the world is now the best player on PGA tour!?

"$10m dollor bonus is, to me vulgar and excessive."

100% agree, in times when ordinary people are struggling this is hard to understand , no recession with fedex obviously .. good luck to them but 10mill would create alot of jobs , even for a few years ..

It's not $10m for 1 event, you have to play 4 events.

However, with regard to what you said, you're also not a multi-millionaire (I'm guessing?), and you play for fun, so what you would be happy with, doesn't reflect what would make a top ranked golfer (who is a multi-millionaire and plays for a living) come and play the game.

If your employer paid you £40k a year to work Jan-Sep, would you do the same job Oct-Dec for about £800?
Thats about the normal mans equivalent to Luke Donald in terms of working time and pay for 30th place.

I understand where you're going with regards to them playing the game for a living, I don't agree, but I can see your point.

It's the numbers involved I don't agree with.

If a professional played every tournament, say on the USPGA tour, and made the cut in every tournament he would make quite a handsome living.

Take Stuart Cink as an example. 21 tournaments this year, making 14 cuts, he earned earned $909,162 according to the offical PGA Tour website (No wins, 1 top 10 and 6 top 25's).

Probably not a good year by his standards but still racked up nearly $1m without even winning.

I'm sure he'll scrape by until the next season :D

Stewart Cink is ranked 98th in the world though, if you take Luke Donald, ranked number 1, he earned just under $6million, from 18 events with 16 cuts made.

A professional playing all events and making all cuts would make a good living, not sure why this means the top guys can't make en even better living?
