It's always good to see a bit of nice silverware. The Premier League trophy, the Champions League trophy, the FA Cup is instantly recognisable worldwide.

So why is it that winners of golf tournaments are presented with some of the most hideous of trophies. The majority are glass creations of some description.
The worst I have seen was the one won by Sergio last year at the Castello Masters. It looked like something he'd picked up from a Thornton's Chocolate shop!

Anyone seen anything as bad?

And as its his own event, you'd have thought he could have come up with something nicer than that.
I wonder if sometimes a player purposely doesn't win because they don't want the trophy?

is there not a event on the PGA tour that tried to copy the Master with a jacket but have gone for a horrendous checked item?

The check jacket is for winning at Hilton Head which usually takes place the week after the Masters.

yes, Moe Norman. He used to sell them and if he thought the better prize was for coming second or third then he would.
