46 minutes in, the 14 year old… “So boring”

They need a rethink
Ill take a wild guess that Jaime isnt exactly forming his judgement independently of a little everything-LIV players-great, everything-PGAT players-boring influencing though !
I will agree though, this type of game show is a couple of decades at least past its sell by date.

The PGAT has some great players, but not many of them have the personality for the TGL project.

Jamie has been in on LIV since it’s inception - obviously influenced by myself a little, but he will still buy into something if it’s interesting regardless of who’s behind it.

TGL needs some big changes if it wants to go from strength to strength

Tbf that’s pretty much the theme of this thread.
The few positives I’ve seen are from people using it to have digs at LIV.
I can guarantee that if it was Bryson,Brooks,Westwood & the other LIV players doing this, people would have a different opinion on it.

The whole thing just comes across as very disjointed and a bit boring tbh. I love playing/watching golf but I really couldn’t care less which team wins week to week in this. Can’t see it lasting long on TV but maybe instead of Pro golfers competing it maybe be a better concept if YouTube golfers competed alongside a couple of celebrity golfers in each team with it being on YouTube (either live or pre-recorded) as a weekly show.

At least it wasn't just pro golfers playing this week. That chap Kevin Kisner, playing on Tiger's side, I'm guessing has a handicap of around 25 :)

I still find it OK, as long as I fast forward most of the rubbish between shots. But, watching it live must be pretty boring (Serena Williams looked bored out of her mind, probably paid to be there).

If myself and 5 others did this, it would be fun. But, nobody would want to spectate our friendly game that has no jeopardy. So, TGL sort of relies on people wanting to see the personality of the golfers. But, most golfers are pretty bland.

Perhaps we are not the audience. Maybe some kids would like it, types who watch Gladiators and people playing computer games on YouTube. But, I still think they need to have a varied range of different events.

They could have a long drive champion who they could elect to use on a risky long hole, with potential big reward. A tricky short game, with a long putt who the opposition can demand you have a celebrity hit it for you. Just thinking off the cuff, but so much could be done so it is better than watching 15 holes of golf.

Could even be a high prize shot for someone in the audience. Maybe encourage people to attend, if they have a chance to take the shot and get lots of money.

Yes, its strange that they took. I maybe a fine TV game show, or not, and to some people's taste, or not. But it certainly isnt Sport. Its close relations are A Question of Sport, or Bullseye, with banter from sports celebs and a nod in the direction of actual sport, its makeup. Darts and snooker are the debatable outer limits that may or not be 'sport', but for a sports channel to go down the general entertainment route is a dilution of their positioning as a sports channel.

I’m willing to be corrected slightly here, as I was only a young child in the late 80s and 90s, (only ‘slightly’ corrected mind you, as I’m sure my point stands) but relative to the 80s and 90s, sport - even on the BBC but especially Sky Sports is far more cheerleading and general entertainment > pure sport now anyway..

Sky golf is pretty much the Tiger and Rory show isn’t it?

Well had it on in the background earlier and again it was light entertainment, they seemed to be enjoying themselves and still decent to see them a bit more relaxed

Think they need to find ways to interact with the audience a bit more

Good Good just posted playing on the TGL set up. Desperately trying to big it up “feels like we playing a real sport…”.

I’ve switched to watching some paint drying channel after 2 mins and I generally like the Good Good videos. 😂

A smart move by TGL getting the Good Good guys on board.
They have a huge following, mostly younger golfers.
Personally I still can see TGL lasting long tho.
Why would you want to see players hit into a screen when you can watch them playing a real course?
Lots of good content on YouTube, much better than TGL imo.

Jamie was watching this earlier - he thought it was more interesting than the TGL event - so that's the thing, once the novelty of the arena wears off, where's the life in TGL?

They just need to completely ditch the pro's playing and get celebs and YouTubers in with a few pro's appearing along the way to add some extra interest.

Two episodes in, with 2m viewers across them, and people are already talking about what changes "need" to be made  classic GM

Why not? Is there a recognised limit of time to pass before expressing one’s opinion? 🙃

For me personally, no changes can make watching someone playing on a sim appealing.
