We played a shotgun start Texas scramble today but one of our group didn't turn up at your clubs what extra percentage do you receive and also what other help do you get, we shot a 3 under gross 66 to finish with a nett 59.7 and a 3rd place but could have been better with the extra 18 putts we missed out on

it does make a massive difference, our 2 lowest scores were when we were short, the extra chips and putts make the most difference.

Our comp was total handicaps divided by 10 for teams of 4 and divided by 8 for teams of 3.

Not very generous for 3-man teams. Ours is 1/10th for 4-man teams with 4 tee shots per man and 1/6th for 3-man teams with 5 tee shots per man. Not only do the 3-man teams have to have more tee shots counting but 3 putts instead of 4 is a big difference.

That's more like it.Some time ago, I actually did an analysis of 3 years results and figured 20% for 3-man teams was more appropriate. Tee shots as above (or maybe 4 vs 3).

why do you think that

So, what you're saying (my interpretation, correct me if wrong) is that anyone's drive counts on the 3 par 3s and you have 3 "spare" drives on the other 15 holes. Where's the pressure in that? Man up, Texas Scramble is meant to test the strength of the team.
