I fancy getting myself a 910 D2 driver to match my hybrid, so booked into DG for next Tuesday to go on the track man doo dar.. Whilst on the phone to the store manager he started saying that he only had a few in stock and I should wait for the 913 which is imminent and that there wasn't much of a shaft selection now they are changing models...

Do you think this is the case or does he just want £299 instead of £235?

I've got an Ahina shaft in the hybrid so wanted same or similar..

I said I'd like to try what he has, as well as the R11s and RazrFit.. But I think I'm pretty set on a 910..

Think I will try it and then head to my pro.

A proper fitting will be ordered from Tileist,my guess is he's trying to flog you a newer model or the stock he has left.My project x shaft was not in stock but they ordered in from Titleist.
Can't see the 913 being much better though, the head is maxed out anyway and the same surefit hosel, with a ton of shafts available I can't see any improvement other than a cosmetic one.

Project X, Ahina, Ilima, Kali and RIP are all stock shafts and should be easily available. Between those, there should be something for almost everyone, but if not there are another several dozen custom options available. The 913 will be launched in the US in the autumn, so if you are desperate for the latest, hang on, but the 910 will still be an excellent driver then.

There is another thread running on American golf, with quite a few people saying they wouldn't recommend getting fitted there. The same applies to DG too, in my opinion.

I've got a 910 d2 with the Kaili Stiff shaft that could be for sale at a good price, it's been barely used because I've gone back to using my old 907.

When I buy custom clubs I will always go to my pro, but we haven't got a launch monitor or decent range balls. So Im going to try at DG to see if it want it then speak to me pro :)

The D2 is an awesome club and I very much doubt the 913 will be a massive improvement.

I had my D2 custom fitted and I honestly don't believe, having tried all the shaft\loft options that I did, that there will be a driver made in the foreseeable future that will give me better performance.

The are planty of sahft options all of whihc can be ordered from Titleist so if it's a D2 you want, tell them that. The only issue you might have with DG is they might not have all the shafts.

I see you're in Cambridgeshire so why not book yourself an appointment at St Ives and get a proper fitting for it. You won't regret it.

I didn't realise the OP was in Cambs. Total no brainer, then. Off to St Ives and you will be able to test a bunch of custom shafts too, and they will tell you about 913.

Having been to DG in Cambridge a number of times over the years I would be surprised if they were just trying to push you to buy the more expensive club. I have never been pushed into buying anything there and they are normally more than happy to let you try what you like for as long as you like. They have never even tried to push Adams or Letters clubs on me. That is a total contrast to DG in Peterborough who would do anything for a sale.

I would give them a fair chance, they are generally helpful and knowledgeable there. That said, if you are set on Titleist and want the best fitting experience then get an appointment at St Ives.

I was fitted by a well respected pro for my 910 using trackman, after taking the club out on the course I realised the shaft wasn't suited to me.

It's not the first time I've made this mistake but I won't be doing it again, It's either Demo clubs out on the course or on a range with decent balls from now on.

Id be getting booked in at St Ives.
