I remember a while back when Bob Mac posted a question about club websites and were you happy with yours?

Iv just logged onto ours and its a huge improvement over the last one.....Would you come and play there?

http://eastclare.com/

Interesting...peat bog cutting and ur ducks walk on water.
Website is a bit 80s, doesn't work well on my iPad.

Looks pretty tho!

Looks good kid, and it might be my eyes, but are the pictures slightly out of focus ? Also what is the one with the lady golfer in the back ground all about ? Would love to play there if you can guarantee no rain !!

Agree the website looks a bit dated, the course info page in particular, some nice photo's with perhaps too many of the clubhouse? I would prefer to see more pics of the course.

Couldn't see any info on greenfee's either, which I guess mst visitors would want to know.

that looks nice. the pic with the woman and pet looks like one of those magic eye pictures. if you stare at it you'll eventualy see seve!

I wouldn't visit as there is nowhere to tell me what the green fees are - no special offers either!

Pictures look OK, not too keen on the whole page effect.

Would rather see a hole-by-hole description of the course with pictures rather than a page of words, my imagination is not that good

To me the course is 'king' and should be one of the headline dropdowns, rather than a little hidden in the 'Our Club' section.

You did ask

Some very good replies there:).....Not sure about the Green fee's i havent trawled it yet......

But if you had seen the last attempt at the site it was a 100 times worse so there is huge improvement from that.

Some pages of text become unreadable depending on which background picture is used. I had to wait for the pic to change to finish reading.

the text "set in the heart of County Clare" is a good example, if you watch it while the pics rotate it almost disappears on occasions.

Some great pics though and looks a nice course.

Those ducks are a wee bit gifted Heidi.......
Its quite funny as the lakes on the course are full of them once the shooting season opens....Its as if they giving the 2 fingers to the hunters:):):)..

Also iv had a line of about 2 dozen of them follow me down a fairway because of me breaking open a Nature Valley bar and giving a few of them a bit:)....
It was kind of hard to hit the next shot....They were everywhere.

Kid2 dont hate me, I look after our group of companies websites and have a little experience, not loads but some, its not a bad stab if it was done by a non professional web designer. If the club paid big money for it then they were robbed.
After a reasonably quick looksie, top left club offer is poorly made, it hides part of the text written in the box (overly contrasting colours used in it too).
The last line on the main page is too light "set in the heart of County Clare" most of the pics have the skyline there and its either invisible or strains the eyes.
On the course details there are two headers overlapping, "Headlines" and also the changing link (weekend is spelt wrong on that too)
There are Two contact Us links on the main menus, one in Visitor Info and one in Our Club.
On the Gallery section there seems to be three different kinds of photo presentations.
Most of the photos taken look like they were just snaps rather than professional photos.
The course Gallery has three pictures, the rest are of ducks or the clubhouse.
To me someone has gone out of their way to make the site look a little too over detailed than how it should look.
As I said, its not terrible but certainly could be improved, this site http://www.portmarnockgolfclub.ie/ is a fantastic benchmark for clubs to imitate.

We had our website re done a few years back. Different style to yours kid. What do you think of it ?

I may be biased as I use it a lot, but think it is pretty user friendly, and the pictures of all the holes are not bad.

I agree with the whole reply Pal....
As its only been up a day or 2 i know that there will be gaps to fill in....

I just wanted to get peoples opinions as to what they felt it was missing so i can bring back the info to them.

Definitely cant guarantee no rain Rich.....:) But if your ever around this neck of the woods gimme a shout...Be more than happy to take you up there....

The picture with the lady in the background has more to do with the lad stacking Turf....Our course is adjacent to a peat bog...

Thats a nice site.....I like the way that you can click on the course guide and then when it brings up the card a click on that brings you into each individual hole.......
It looks very professional.

THIS is spot on.

I'm assuming it was a well meaning member who's had a go at the website? if its better than it was then great but it really does your club no favours, sorry to sound harsh but its your clubs one shot at getting visitors and needs to make a good first impression as well as making members more proud of where they belong!

Money is probably tight as it is with most clubs so a good idea is to approach the local college/uni Web course and ask if they want to have a real world project, get ideas and the winner gets to design the website and have their name against it, these kids have some great talent and its a win win for all.

good luck

Some really good feedback here already so won't double up but to support what has already gone, no pricing means no visitors so currently its geared for memebers only and they don't need a gallery page etc so actually its not even clear who the site users are supposed to be
