Tee Trouble Getting Me Down

Quick update. Today I drove the ball the best I have in a long time. But guess what.... my iron play let me down 😂 Golf is ridiculous 😂 Also. Where do you reckon my mate stands. On the 10th hole, two gentleman had parked there cars nearby (on the course) to cook hot dogs and burgers etc. On the 18th, my mate hits a decent drive, but slightly left straight towards to hotdog stand. Hit one of the cars right on the side panel and put a lovely golf ball sized hole in the side!

I would say that parking their cars somewhere which a golf ball could reasonably be struck (without it being a truly terrible shot), is pretty stupid.

I'm sure your mate feels bad about it, but i can't see that he would be held personally responsible for it. Unless your description of events is missing something!

I was the same with driver 3 or hybrid. Took 5 iron off tee for a while. Then got a Ping Crossover 4 iron which is great. Now here's the strange but good thing - I recently brought a Callaway Apex utility 2 iron. Awesome club so easy to hit. But what this has done has given me far more confidence with my 3 wood. Yesterday I hit my 3 wood 289 and 310, downhill admittedly but also several around the 240-250 mark. Great flight, straight etc. Measured by Garmin by the way. Before I was a real topper of the ball - shockingly bad. But the Crossover and then the utility iron has given me a lot of confidence and technique. So it may not work for you but if u hit your irons well, why not try a driving iron?

My pro encourages me to practice with my hybrid to make my wholeness swing bette as bad shots are more exaggerated compared to irons.

Helped me sort out my driving to.

Pros give some interesting advice sometimes but it it's works...

My driving was pretty decent a couple of years ago but then last year I tried to get more distance and it went to pot, I struggled and my handicap went up. So I concentrated on just getting the basic right, my grip ( I check it before every shot), a slow back swing that isn't to long and then a nice smooth swing. This season I have been hitting most fairways and getting it out to around 200 yds. As a consequence I am scoring so much better this season.

After suffering with hooks I worked on my take away as a last resort and (fingers crossed) it seems to have worked. Played much better yesterday as my driving improved greatly with nothing going left. It wasn't my best day ever off the tee but a massive improvement on the last few weeks. Just got to make sure I am not too tentative (which bad experiences off the tee causes) and release properly which I can often fail to do if I have been trying to stop the ball going left.
As ever in golf, problems of this nature are often solved with minor adjustments.
