Tee Bookings...

If i plan on playing, i book a tee, if for then what ever reason i cant play, i phone the pro shop and let them know i cant play and to make the time available.

With the BRS system that our club uses you can do it all yourself. You can book 14 days in advance and change it as often as you like when you like, no need to phone the pro or anyone.

We also use the BRS system at our place. I cudnt c the place working without it. Cant book teetimes on saturdays as its comp day. As chris said earlier always good to c who else is out to try an get a game!

We also use the brs system and I like it mainly for the reason stated as I k ow when I'm starting and roughly finishing which is pretty important with a wife and two daughters. our system is only in operation on tueadays(no idea why) Friday through to Sunday. We get an email each week telling us what's on at the club each day ie comps, visitors and functions. This way you also know when to avoid on days without the booking system. Saturday's always get busy and slots before 1000 are usually gone within minutes of going live. As I don't have any regular partners I can either book one myself or see who is playing and tag onto the booking.

As said sometimes people don't turn up, to combat this we now have to clock in with the pro shop. Persistent offends will be dealt with apparently. The only problem I've seen is people reserving slot with no confirmation, saw one the other day booked by player a, then the 4 slots the first two have names the next two have reserved by player a in them. I've emailed the secretary as I mostly play on my own and join others and people complaining about single players filling the slots I would join one of these but can't!

Also someone mention the booked onto a three ball only for a fourth to turn up, at ours the fourth person would have to find another slot surely. I know I wouldn't stand for that but then it would make for an uncomfortable 18 holes. Also when anyone adds to or changes a booking everyone on that slot gets an email informing them.

BRS is the dogs bolloxs....great system and so easy to use,it's just a shame only 1 of my clubs has it....the other club doesn't even appear to know that email is a powerful communication tool......

Sorry but I'm in the anti-booking camp. I love the freedom to decide I'll wander out for a round after work. Maybe I only want to play a few holes. If I booked a time and decided to only play a few potentially I'm stopping someone else from playing. At weekends most of the roll ups have found their own niche times. As a private members club we don't have green fees to try and accommodate and most members know when the roll ups go out. These themselves are pretty friendly and new club members are often invited to join in and so its always easy to get a game.

Homer, it's normally only a struggle to get a time between half 8 and 10 on the weekends. If I were to go over to my place at 4pm on a Thursday I wouldn't have any problems getting on.

And when I say struggle, it's not really ever been an issue if you're prepared enough.

Also, our system allows every other tee time to be booked a week in advance with the in-between times bookable the previous day. This stops times being block booked for months in advance an gives everyone a fair go at booking the popular times.

I would say that at the majority of clubs it is not a problem. It is more of a hassle for me to have to call up and see what times are available at the weekend comp, much rather be able to have a quick look on the 'puter see if anything fits with my plans and roberts your mothers brother.

My club is just a 10 hole course with 18 tees. So you might expect some congestion, if they didn’t have tee time bookings. Far from it, it’s turn up and play. All the members know reserved comp times and days, so if you’re not in the comp you avoid them.

The beauty of no tee time bookings is I can just decide on a whim to go for a game, 9 or 18 holes. The vast majority of times I will be invited to join in or I will invite someone behind on the tee to join me. No bookings does encourage lone golfers I admit, but all the members know they are likely to team up with someone, it’s just the done thing and a great way to meet other members. I wouldn’t have it any other way

Tee time booking does not eliminate congestion, I play enough other courses to know that to be the case

This is my problem, I like to play between 8.30 and 10. My group start emailing each other for availability on a Wednesday to play Saturday morning. With a tee booking system we would be screwed. I appreciate that is our problem but just turning up suits us.
